Boy Scouts ping.

pop makes this statement. “The Boy Scouts don’t allow heterosexuals to be alone with Scouts. They don’t risk any potential liability.”

Is that right.

Also in this thread... “The Boy Scouts get what they deserve.”

I’m guessing a certain FReeper SUPPORTS homo scout leaders.

Yes. Every adult leader or parent that accompanies kids on outings is required to annually qualify for youth protection. That includes detailed descriptions of the “two deep policy.”

I like the policy. It means I’m protected against crazy accusations because there is always another adult witness. It makes merit badge counseling harder because you need another adult there.

From what I know about the scouts (my son is working on his Eagle Scout) they make sure that no scout is alone with a single adult. They must have two or more leaders with scouts or individuals.

I suspect it is to keep the chance for sexual molestation limited.

I read the tripe from the “boy scouts get what they deserve” idiot too. I wonder if he is a gay who was trying to become a leader. I work with an old queen that says pretty much the same. He hates the BSA because of their stance on letting gays be leaders.

Looks like someone just “outted” themselves on FR.

The Boy Scouts have a policy of two-deep leadership. However, as with any rule, some people don't follow the rules.

For example, the Boy Scouts limit certain high adventure activities to Scouts fourteen years of age or older. However, there are Troops that permit younger Scouts to engage in those high adventure activities.
