Shortly after Republican presidential candidate Mitt Romney enjoyed cookies and soft drinks with the Rev. Billy Graham and his son Franklin Graham on Thursday at the elder Graham's mountaintop retreat, a reference to Mormonism as a cult was scrubbed from the website of the Billy Graham Evangelistic Association.
In a section of the website called Billy Graham's My Answer there had been the question "What is a cult?"
Answer: "A cult is any group which teaches doctrines or beliefs that deviate from the biblical message of the Christian faith."
"Some of these groups are Jehovah's Witnesess, Mormons, the Unification Church, Unitarians, Spritualists, Scientologists, and others," the site continued.
No longer. On Tuesday, the Billy Graham Evangelistic Association confirmed that page has recently been removed from the site.
Our primary focus at the Billy Graham Evangelistic Association has always been promoting the Gospel of Jesus Christ," Ken Barun, chief of staff for the association, told CNN in a statement. "We removed the information from the website because we do not wish to participate in a theological debate about something that has become politicized during this campaign."

A youngster in Christ, after reading the Book, and then studying the claims of MORMONism, would be able to see that it is a heresy. True enough, but, and correct me if you think I'm wrong, perhaps younger people are more conditioned by the postmodern "all truths are equal" mantra, and I wonder if the reaction to blazing heresy is somewhat muted in many of them because of this conditioning. I'd be interested to know if Barna or anyone has done any studies on the matter.

Thanks for taking the time to respond to me again. You have done a good job of expressing your point of view, even with me throwing hard balls. I don't agree but I do respect you.
Congratulations on working hard and finding a new career later in life. I am facing a similar dilemma. I am reaching the end of a career that is not well suited for older persons; hopefully I will be able to do as well in transition as you have.

There are charlatans of every stripe who see Godly congregations as gatherings of dupes. Remember the so-called Christian televangelists? Jim and Tammy?
God is the judge. When a man or woman is born into the religion of his/her parents - how do they keep the commandment to ‘honor thy father and thy mother’?
Living a Godly life is more important that the label we wear on our sleeve.
Atheists and agnostics are God’s children who were born to parents without beliefs. It behooves us to show them the Truth, through friendly persuasion.
Christians break the Ten Commandments - even when they know better.

Elsie, I appreciate your misguided tenacity but I keep wondering if you are from some wierd alternate reality. In what way do you think it is misguided?

The lds-org denies that Jesus is the Creator, that everything was created BY Him.
Pray they repent of their falsehoods and see the Truth.
The lds-org is a thief of the Name and the Truth of Jesus Christ.

It has degenerated into aimless jabs of blame without having even the most tenuous thread of logic tying back to the original issue.Control yourself, and half the problem you perceive will be solved.

Does what Billy Graham did open an avenue for the LDS to penetrate the Christian church.Moot; since the CC already has been 'penetrated'.
Does what Billy Graham did CLOSE an avenue for the seeking Christian to find out about MormonISM's message of heresy?
Note that in all of these discussions we are having here, we are ASSUMING that BG himself actually KNOWS what has happened on the website.
I'll 'assume' that he is FAR removed from what the organization that bears his name is doing in it's day-to-day operations, even though we have mentally placed our own caption under this picture:

My point was that people were hurling inaccurate and possibly badly researched accusations at BILLY GRAHAM. Proverbs 20:11
Even a child is known by his actions, by whether his conduct is pure and right.
List the 'inaccurate' accusations.
Compare to list of statements of fact.
Let the jury decide.

Romney says that Jesus Christ is his Lord and Savior. That is not good enough for some here. Some here have pointed out many times and with much evidence, that MORMONism's 'jesus christ' is NOT the same One the Bible has described.
That REALLY upsets others here - thus the back and forth bantering.
SOME with evidence: OTHERS without.

But the peculiarity of the way the Mormon system is set up is that they can say lots of things about God and about Jesus Christ that are identical to what conventional Christians would say. This is because the MORMON Religious Organization has CHANGED the definitions of words as they use them.

Attacking Billy Graham? Really! Amazing!Since when is Billy Graham or any other man, for that matter, above criticism? Paul publicly dressed down Peter when he was wrong. Billy Graham has accomplished great things for God's Kingdom and deserves to be treated with respect but that doesn't make him or his organization immune to mistakes.
If Billy Graham's organization suppresses a spiritual truth for political expediency, it is wrong and no Christian should not be shy about saying so.
