Conservatives in blogland pounced on Secretary of State Hillary Clinton’s statment taking responsibility for the security of the U.S. consulate in Benghazi, Libya, saying it looks like a bid to shield President Barack Obama from the continuing fallout from the deadly attack.
Clinton, who told CNN, “I want to avoid some kind of political gotcha,” is “falling on the sword to save Obama,” wrote Erick Erickson at RedState.com.
Erickson asked, “Doesn’t the buck stop with Barack Obama?”
“That’s what the President said back in July,” Erickson wrote, pointing to a moment when Obama said he’s learned that the “buck stops” with the President of the United States. “In the same interview, he went on to say, ‘one of the things you learn is, you are ultimately responsible for the conduct of your operations.’ But then again, often what this President practices and what he preaches are two different things.”
“This is a laudable gesture, especially when the White House is trying to avoid any responsibility whatsoever,” wrote GOP Sens. John McCain, Lindsey Graham and Kelly Ayotte in a joint statement. But, they added later, “The security of Americans serving our nation everywhere in the world is ultimately the job of the Commander-in-Chief. The buck stops there.”

Dumb move, Hillary. But then again, 0bama’s probably got DIRT on her and was prepared to expose it.
The lengths liberals will go to:

No matter the speculation Hillary will do, and say anything that benefits Hillary. With that we can speculate with a better focus. Those that say she’s taking it for the party we must realize that without the party Hillary is nothing.
Whatever she does it’s all for Hillary. You can bet on it.
Didn’t she say in her statement that she was following the WHITE HOUSE and not the Intelligence Community?
I think that was an “accidental” slip of the tongue.
Any speculation on what it might be? It must be pretty bad.
And since it is increasingly evident that “O” is not going to be re elected, what Evita did is a truly empty gesture.
Nothing is going to rehabilitate “O”. I can only think that Evita wants to salvage as much of her own face as she can...no matter what happens to “O”.
Wacko and weird all the way around. There is too much drama and pathology in this administration. I can't wait until they're gone!

This is perfect for Romney to attack 0zer0 on Libya, plus it also neutralizes Romney from an attack by 0zer0 on Bain. It’s a devastating line of attack if used.

That’s what Barack Obama said when attacking Mitt Romney over Bain Capital.
“As president of the United States, it’s pretty clear to me that I’m responsible for folks who are working in the federal government and you know, Harry Truman said the buck stops with you.”
That’s what the President said back in July. In the same interview, he went on to say, “one of the things you learn is, you are ultimately responsible for the conduct of your operations.”
She’s not protecting him. Hillary only looks out for Hillary.
Hillary is used to covering up for incompetent criminal Presidents. She’s an enabler.

She definitely suffers from battered woman syndrome; although the lying B brings it on herself.
Hillary may end up under the imaginary bus, but in the democrat world she will be resurrected by the One who threw her there.
Everyone here is thinking completely wrong about this. There is no love lost between the Clintons and the Obamas. Hillary isn’t taking one for the team - she is sticking it to the team. By undermining the executive credibility and taking a buck stops here she is furthering her long term goal - a 2016 run against an incumbent Republican.
Follow - she makes Obama looks weak on foreign policy the day of a major debate. She establishes executive cred by taking full responsibility for something the exec claims no knowledge of. She makes sure that Libya is a thorn in the president and pushes the election of Romney. From day one of Romney administration she spearheads the attacks and builds a campaign machine and war chest. By 2016 she and a compliant press make Romney damaged goods and she cake walks through the primaries and into the general election. Remember WHO ANSWERED THE 3 AM CALL - not Obama, but Hillary.
It’s all part of her plan.
