When British diplomats abandoned their offices in Benghazi over the summer after the British ambassadors motorcade was attacked with rocket-propelled grenades, their security detail left its weapons and vehicles in the custody of the U.S. consulate in that eastern Libyan city.
Now that cache of weapons is missing amid signs that the Islamist militants suspected in the Sept. 11 attacks on the U.S. consulate and a nearby annex remain active, despite Libyan government demands that they disband.
The June 11 attack on British Ambassador Sir Dominic Asquith as he drove through Benghazi is among a list of 230 security incidents, 48 in Benghazi alone, that U.S. officials compiled to show how dangerous Libya had become. Two of Asquiths security guards were wounded in the attack. In contrast to the Americans, who remained in Benghazi, the British determined that the city was too dangerous and closed their offices.

So the WH put unarmed guards in charge of protecting a cache of weapons. Sweet.
After Gaddafi was deposed, 10,000 - 20,000 MANPADS, shoulder-fired surface-to-air missiles went missing that can take out commercial airliners. Glen Doherty (one of the Seals killed) was in Libya because he was on an intel mission trying to track them down. Not hearing too much about the dangers of these missing weapons, are we?
That may explain why the State Dept. official testifying before Issa’s committee gave the astounding “guesstimate” that there are “between 10,00 and 20,000” such weapons missing!!! Good grief. I hope the new ambassador taking the post in Libya has his will up to date.
It’s not like the Mexican Cartels ended up with them.

The Brits F-ed Up. They trusted the US.
Don’t they mean disgruntled movie goers? I heard somewhere that it was all an accident and that we are sorry for causing any hard feelings because somebody put out a crappy movie. Guess I heard wrong huh? Why didn’t the Brits take their stuff with them? Are they becoming like the french? Also heard that the ambassador to Barbados had a Marine contingency standing by in case there was a sudden upsurge in terrorist activity there. No wonder these clowns attack whenever they feel like it. The administration makes excuses for them instead of protecting Americans. Am I fairly disgusted with this whole mess? Understatement!
Uncle obie and uncle joe gotta go!!!!!!!!!!
Happy Birthday US Navy!!!!! Woo Hoo!
Helping keep mankind warm for 65 years.
“Mr. President, please tell the American people WHY we are arming and actively supporting Al Quaeda, again.”
I hope the new ambassador taking the post in Libya has his will up to date....I think that will be Jim Lehrer.
It’s like the State Department put out the bait but forgot the trap.
This man is an utter & complete disaster. Bill Clinton & Jimmy Carter rolled into one.
The administration is arming the Muslim Brotherhood across the Middle East. The method is different in every country. Syria is “freedom fighters.” Egypt is above board money transfers. Libya is “theft.”
That question is the KEY to this whole disaster.
Will someone have the stones to bring the CIA to the table?
It usually doesn’t happen. A dead Ambassador and several whistleblowers might bring it to the table.
Issa hasn’t brought CIA to the table over Fast and Furious.
But this time they have the head of the CIA lying about a protest that never happened.
“But, but, but .... didn’t Obama, Hillary, and Biden say that there was no evidence or reason to anticipate trouble in Libya on the anniversary of 9/11?”
Ain’t that interesting. The Brits abandon their facility and Obama, Clinton, and Biden don’t even protect ours. That is just incredible incompetence. Then they attempt an incompetent coverup to hide their failure.
