A tracking poll published Thursday by TIPP for Investors' Business Daily shows the hard-to-believe statistic of 44% support for Mitt Romney among likely Jewish voters, versus 40% for Obama, with 16% undecided.
The statistic is qualified with the comment that it is based on a small sample and should therefore be viewed with caution.
The poll was conducted among 812 likely voters, with an 8% advantage for registered Democrats over Republicans.
If the numbers are in any way close to representing reality, they reflect an unprecedented shift in Jewish voting preferences. Jews have voted overwhelmingly for Democratic presidential candidates for decades. Obama enjoyed 78% of the Jewish vote in the 2008 election.
Jewish support for Obama has been slipping recently. In September, the TIPP poll gave him 59% versus 35% for Romney. That in itself was seen as quite an accomplishment for Romney. It was not far from the 40 percent number in support of Dwight Eisenhower recorded by Jews in 1956, which was the highest backing by Jews for a Republican in nearly a century.

BS. JINOS will happily give up their own mothers to be first in line to tell everyone for approval’s sake that they voted for Obama. The real chosen people will indeed vote for Romney. They are, however, not the majority inthis country
Thank you, I am closer to a large group of the chosen people than I am willing to discuss, but you see things when you are with people. You can relate to what they have gone through when you spend time with them and open up to each other.....

have Jews ever supported the conservative by a majority?
maybe pre FDR?
if only a majority of Jews in the media and Hollywood and academia and Madison ave voted conservative it would really mean something
it would change the country's culture back to where it needs to be
ain't gonna happen though...they remain firmly at the enemy vanguard mostly in those pursuits
Bless you. We serve an awesome God. I truly believe we are now moving to what I call a “critical mass”. That is to say that if Romney/Ryan keep on the same course with a slightly tougher and sharper message building each day, that there is nothing Barry Obama and the liberal MSM can do about!! This train is leaving the station!!
This result is an outlier, “Just one day ago, on Wednesday, the TIPP tracking poll (this same poll) showed Obama leading Romney 47%-25%. This makes Thursday’s numbers appear like a wild fluke or a mistake. However, these are the numbers that currently appear on the IBD/TIPP website.”
Nonetheless, I think that it is clear that the Jewish vote is moving significantly this year.
Obama got 78% of the Jewish vote in 2008, and that is not unusual - Jews have been the second most reliable demographic group for the Democrat Party, second only to African-Americans. Unlike AA’s though, Jews are also major players in fundraising, and disproportionally influential culturally.
All the anecdotes that folks have listed are a real phenomena. There are lots of reasons, but I won’t be surprised if Obama’s losses among Jews from 2008 levels is bigger than for any other group (15-25% swing). There is also the potential for a significant lasting realignment, making Jews more of a swing or split demographic, rather than a Democrat lock. We have seen a big swing in contributions from 2008.
Hope on the horizon. Not Obama’s “hope.”
This I cannot believe.
A dear Jewish friend who, for reasons I will never understand, voted for 0 in ‘08 will NOT vote for him this time. She cannot stand what he’s doing to the country and....she LOoOoOves Ryan!!
Glad to hear that, Obama is very pro Islam, Obama is a typical leftist, they all are sympathetic to the cause of Islam and hostile to Isreal and the United States. Glad some people are finally getting it.
Hmm. Mormons and Jews. Perhaps, an interesting commonality between Romney and his old friend from their days at BCG, Benjamin Netanyahu?
Her Thighness Hilary and Madeline Halfbright tried this tactic.
It does help in Florida, but the really big help is all of that money that Obama will not be seeing. That is killing him now and some of that money is likely going to Romney. This president seems to have picked favorites and Israel is not high on that list.
(note to Secret Service, ‘killing’ is a political expression, not a plan or a wish on my part regarding violence - I’m perfectly happy to see this president defeated in his re-election bid, and live out a long life afterwards, doing whatever he wishes)

Hmmm.
I’m guessing they are calling anyone with the last name Goldstien, Katz, Goldberg, Kaplan, etc.
:-)
Living in Georgia, my experience with the Jewish crowd is very limited, but in my observations, I would have to agree with you.
Still 55/45 with 45 going to the Republican is excellent.
What % of the Jewish vote did Nixon get in 1972 against McGovern?
Go to the Republican Jewish Coalition Website:
www.rjchq.org
See that there are, in fact, a large number of Conservative Jews including a lot on FR.
I would urge everyone to check out the Catholic Vote and ask why they’re voting RAT.
I’m predicting that the whole population will go 55% to Romney, 45% to 0bama, because people are more fed up with 0bama than they’ll tell a pollster, our base will show up, Independents will break heavily to Romney, and 0bummer’s base won’t show up.
What the Jews will do is vote 63% 0bama. My “Jewish” niece gave a Bat Mitzvah address in which she proclaimed disbelief in G-d, and everyone clapped politely. She works for the 0bama campaign.
Jews in America (in my experience,) believe in G-d less than they believe in the Democrat party.
