Wisconsin school district has ordered a joint public-private school football team to change its logo in the middle of the season after a lone parent said the inclusion of a bishops hat and cross was a violation of the U.S. Constitution.
Martin Lexmond, superintendent of the Shorewood School District, told Fox News that he made the decision to remove the logos after consulting with the school board.
It just didnt occur to anybody that there might be questions about it, he said. A parent last week raised the question asking if this was a violation of separation of church and state.
The school district has a unique partnership with a Messmer, private Roman Catholic high school. In 2000 the two small schools joined forces to create a football co-op.
Bob Smith, president of the Catholic school, told WTMJ that he was not happy about the decision and said it is hurtful for the kids.
Its going to be hurtful for the kid who designed the logo..its going to be hurtful for the team, he told the radio station.

Diversity is our strength!
Unless it has anything to do with Christ...
NAME THE OFFENDED PARENT!...way too often ACLU types use anonymity to push their agenda. A phone call?
When will they ban or come up with a different design for the letter “t” since it kind of resembles a cross?
I’ll bet the complaint was filed anonomously (can’t read article behind firewall).
I demand that the students face their accusor. Let the person publicly come forward and present his/her case as to just how and why she is offended.

Anyone who can look at American government, local, state or federal, and see an endorsement of Christianity in anything it does probably sees beauty in islam.

They need to keep the Cross and get rid of taxpayer supported football. Under the concept of seperation of academia and sports.
Let the players join the debate team, or the chess team, or the physics team.
Otherwise, if ya wanna play (ball) ya gotta pay. Let the local “sports association” fund the activity.
Everyone needs to comply so the one bigot doesn’t sue.
A logo on a helmet constitutes Congress establishing a national religion.
Of course it does.

...and like every other Catholic “leader” will not do a damn thing about because he does not want to “upset” things.
Let the kids decorate their own helmets like they do when giving out stickers for touchdowns and hard hits. Or just keep giving in.
People who object to dog racing, or gambling, could be equally offended by the inclusion of the greyhound. If you look lng and hard enough you can always find somehing to be offensive. The official who proclaimed, "It is clearly a Christian cross!" offends me.
