America is like a train going rapidly toward a cliff. The election of 2012 may determine if we fly off the precipice, or slow down enough to get the train turned around.

So then, who should we vote for this November?
In regards to the upcoming presidential election, I have heard some Christians say they will not vote for Barack Obama since he clearly supports and promotes issues contrary to the Bible, like abortion and homosexual marriage. But, they say, they cannot vote for Mitt Romney because he is a Mormon, and they point out the unbiblical doctrines of Mormonism. Their choice then will be to vote for a third party candidate, write in a name,or not vote at all. Should this be the choice of Biblical thinking Christians?
It is very important whom we choose to govern us. When the righteous rule, the people will rejoice, but when the wicked govern they will groan (Prov. 29:2). Our nation’s welfare and stability—our continuance (or recovery) as a nation of liberty, justice, and prosperity—will be greatly affected by whom we choose to lead us.
To elect Godly leaders we need to know the qualities of a Godly leader, and here, as in all of life, the Bible provides a standard. In choosing those who govern, we must compare their qualifications to those that the Bible says are of most importance.

As we shall see, Obama is also anti-life, supporting and promoting abortion consistently throughout his public life, is against the Biblical family, recently saying he supports same-sex marriage, and promotes public immorality. The conclusion is that, while a professing Christian, Obama shows little fruit of true Christian faith.

Regarding his actions, Romney is pro-life and upholds the Biblical family, so in these two important matters, unlike Obama, he embraces the ideals of the Christian faith. Romney has also not shown hostility toward Christianity as has Obama.

Under Obama’s fiscal and moral leadership, the train is heading toward the cliff at 100 miles per hour. In general, those who have led the nation in recent generations, both Democrats and Republicans, have been going the wrong way on the track headed toward the cliff. Some have slowed the train but what is needed is to turn the train around. There are those currently serving in government who want to do this, and have tried, but we need more servant leaders who adhere to the Biblical qualifications of Godly officials before this is possible.
Since slowing the train down will give us more time to prepare new leaders, Romney seems the best option at this time. In contrast to Obama, he also supports life and upholding the Biblical definition of marriage. Romney certainly does not meet all of the Biblical qualifications for Godly officials, but he comes closer to the standard than Obama. We cannot afford to continue down the wrong track at 100 miles per hour because the cliff is coming soon. Slowing the train to 20 miles per hour may give us time to awaken to our civil duties, and restore Godly leadership to the nation.
To those who say they cannot vote for either and will vote “other,” this is in reality a vote for the least Biblical guy. By your tacit consent, you are helping put the worst guy in office. At 100 miles per hour, I fear we cannot last long enough to restore America to its place as the most free, prosperous, virtuous, and just nation the world has ever seen.
It’s such a relief know God has a blind spot. :>)

Mittens, at best is “ehhh...”, but the alternative (and that includes those that live in Candyland with dreams of Virgil Goode or Gary Johnson or the Great Pumpkin winning the presidency), another Obama term will the the official end of the USA. Think CA on a national level.

Now this, I’ve got to say, is a classic straw man argument. As a Bible-believing Christian, I have struggled with Romney’s Mormonism and I still believe he is a member of a cult. But I have made peace with the idea of voting for him as POTUS as the alternative for our country is horrifying.
But I don’t know one person (nor do I KNOW OF anyone) who was once accusing Romney of belonging to a cult and is now accusing people not supporting him of being a ‘bigot.’ Maybe they’re out there, but that’s a new one on me.
I respect someone not supporting him based on liberal policies and I respect people being reluctant for vote for him if they believe (like me) that Mormonism is a cult. I would just appeal to them (as I have to many in my church) that there is no other person on the planet that can get rid of ZERO except Romney.
So unless we are comfortable with 4 more years of this and where the country is headed under this present leadership, then it is our duty to vote for the only viable alternative — regardless of his many faults.

Okay fair enough — if you know people that have actually done this kind of 180 on Romney, I’ll take you at your word. My only point was I don’t believe this is a widespread sentiment among evangelicals. I just don’t see the ‘bigotry’ charge being leveled at those who refuse to vote for Romney, at least in my circle.
Those who would say that, in my opinion, are pretty ignorant anyway. There are several policy reasons to oppose him, and any critical thinking person should recognize that. I’m just saying that at the end of the say, ALL his many faults outweigh the horrifying scenario of another 4 years of the lawless Marxist.

Obama and groom Julius Genachowski, whom Obama would later tap to head the Federal Communications Commission, were Harvard Law School classmates at the time and members of the Harvard Law Review.
After TheDC made preliminary inquiries Monday to confirm Obama’s attendance at the wedding, ABC leaked a pre-emptive statement to news outlets including Politico and The Daily Beast Tuesday, revealing what may have been internal network pressure felt just days before Raddatz was scheduled to moderate the one and only vice-presidential debate Thursday night....
You still have not explained why not voting is a cowardly act, let alone why it is of the worst sort. Just asserting that it is doesn't make it so.
Mormons have the same concept of right and wrong as Christians and Jews. Liberals-socialists-communists-Marxists believe that the end justifies the means.
I don't think that cripplecreek needs a character reference but I'll add if you are familiar with the discussions on Mormonism in the religion forum over past couple of years, there is a very clear example there.

I don't think you want to frame the election that way. "Think CA on a national level" vs. "Think MA on a national level" would lead people to adopt my position of sitting this election out.

I am voting absentee this year, my California ballot has been sitting on the counter for days, every office and ballot initiative is marked except for president - I look at it every time I walk by - this year I realize I must leave it blank for the first time since I have been voting, there will be no presidential candidate marked.
A couple of the most active pro-Obama trolls were up late last night on spreading hate and discontent on other threads and obviously haven’t seen this one yet. I expect some major new fireworks starting as the noise from their parents getting ready for work rouses them from their restful slumber.
Obama thanks you for four things: (1) saving one of his votes; (2) not voting for his serious opponent; (3) allowing his train of destruction to rush on at 100 mph instead of slowing it to 20 mph with Romney; and (4) not allowing any conservative leaders the time to develop into serious opposition.

I haven’t made a firm decision about voting for Romney. My main concern is the behavior of the people calling themselves conservatives.
They talk a big game about getting rid of Obama then cheer Romney for saying he’s going to continue doing many of the same things. Obama arming Libyan rebels bad, Romney saying he would consider arming Syrian rebels good. Foreign aid under Obama bad, Foreign aid under Romney good. Defacto amnesty under Obama bad, Romney saying he wouldn’t overturn it good.
Just this morning I committed the blaspheme of suggesting that Joe Biden may not be a pushover in the debate like Obama was. I came under fire for simply pointing out that Joe Biden has 40 years of experience under his belt. I didn’t say that Ryan couldn’t defeat him, only that Ryan faced a tougher debate. Suggesting that Romney can’t fix the economy is another blasphemous statement that virtually all would have agreed with 6 months ago.
People both left and right are acting exactly alike and America will pay dearly for it. Cattle led to slaughter because they refuse to see.
No true Christian would have to spend a nano second to consider this question.
