In August 2012, a candidate for Illinois State Senate, District 18, Dr. Barbara Bellar, thought she would start a fundraising event with a lighthearted tone. She claimed that she could describe ObamaCare (the ACA) in one sentence -- one very long sentence.
Because Dr. Bellar so accurately portrayed the current national sentiment about the ACA, a video of her speaking her very long sentence went viral. As of 10/7/12, it had received 2,434,958 hits on YouTube.
This is what she said, verbatim. (Bullets were inserted by this author.)
We are going to be gifted with a healthcare plan [the ACA]:
* We are forced to purchase, and fined if we don't;
* Which purportedly covers at least 10 million more people
* Without adding a single new doctor; but
* Provides for 16,000 new IRS agents;
* Written by a committee whose chairman says he doesn't understand it;
* Passed by a Congress that didn't read it; but
* Exempted themselves from it; and
* Signed by a president who smokes;
* With funding administered by a treasury chief who didn't pay his taxes;
* For which we will be taxed for four years before any benefits take effect;
* By a government which has already bankrupted Social Security and Medicare;
* All to be overseen by a surgeon general who is obese; and
* Financed by a country that's broke.
Funny, to be sure, but here's the scary part. It is all true!.......

Seen this before but it makes me chuckle every time. So true. I’m self employed and work is way down and I can barely pay the bills now and my taxes are going to increase several thousand or I have to pay a fine for myself and my wife when we can’t afford to pay the extra Obamacare taxes because we don’t have the money due to the fact that O destroyed the economy and we earn a lot less now (every client we have has told us they are holding on to their purse strings because of this idiot; he’s made everyone fearful and cautious and they are waiting or him to get voted out if office before they take any chances). Before O came into office we were hitting up over the 200K mark just about every year. Now we’re down below 60K at the moment and he’s increased the price of EVERYTHING.
Thanks for the posting
My situation as well. Almost to the tee.
Me, too. I folder the $8.5mm Family Farm last Nov. EPA, AgDept, DER, DEP, DOT, ACoE etc etc etc and 0bummer’s horrid economy were just too much red ink about to hit the books. Got out just in time. Successful Family Farms are almost gone.
I have had to put off life plans and dreams for the last 4 years. Think I am a pissed off voter? You have no idea.
Us as well. Our clients are small businesses. Even the ones that are doing okay are putting off capital investments and hiring from sheer fear.
And many pay very slowly. They are paying us when they get the money. Their customers are slow pay also.
I’ m really fond of the inflation that doesn’ t exist. Do they honestly think we go to the store every week and don’ t notice the price increases. Or pump gas unaware of that growing total.
My daughter was laid off and her x quit paying child support so they moved in with us. She doesn’ t much like her loss of independence but I am grateful to have her. Husband just had 3 stints and a pacemaker so extra help in the business is a good thing.
My MIL lives with us also. She complains every day about how things are going but still says she’ll vote for Obama.
I just don’ t get it.
I know its your mother in law but you need to show her the door.Permanently.
My MIL lives with us also. She complains every day about how things are going but still says shell vote for Obama.
I just don t get it.....Put her in a home. SHE’LL get it then.
I would politely say to her “you have a choice to vote for whomever you wish, but if you choose to vote for this man who has dramatically impacted our way of life negatively, then we will have to choose to send you to a nursing care home.” It is all about choices and the consequences of those choices...
Semicolons are cheating ;-)
You guys are tough. I was thinking of something much more passive aggressive and female and deniable.
Your answers do give me a level of satisfaction.
