G’ mornin’, Arrow! (((hugs)))
You and the pup have a nice walk...hope you get that painting done in short order! :)
Looks like we may finally get some wet stuff this weekend, been a real dry summer and fall.
So, how did the book-signing go? Hope you had a great weekend, mine was restful.
Lots of sports going on this week, so busy here as usual.
I smell the coffee...
Have a scrumptious day!
((HUGS))Good morning, LUV W. How’s it going?
Good morning Pro ((HUGS))
Well, I know you are at work by now but just now getting to the Canteen.
Been very busy, at work and home. Was on the road Friday, Saturday, and Sunday. The book signing this past Saturday didn’t go well. Got to NJ late and had to leave by 2, but didn’t get away until around 3 cause we stopped for lunch.
Have another local one this Saturday. And then another at the end of the month.
I’m going to be offering a holiday special on the ebook version of Hooked between Thanksgiving and New Years.
Yesterday was a rainy day here...and cold! Had to start a fire, but got a chance to rest up before coming back to work.
Got to check pings.
Have a sunnylicious day.
Happy Tuesday, night owl ((HUGS))
Been busy and just now getting a chance to pop in.
Hope you had a great time on your trip.
Good morning dear ((HUGS))
I know you are busy painting but I’m just now getting into the Canteen. I hope to be back on schedule tomorrow.
Hope you had a good day for painting.
Oh no!
sorry to hear about OldChinaHand’s accident. Hope all is well.
Hiya WVNan
I’m not certain but if anyone knows it would be Kathinalaska, but she’s kinda busy. I’ve pinged her to see if she knows or has what you are looking for.
Thanks for letting us know about Kathy’s father.
Thanks for the prayers, All....I got a call from my Mom about 4:15p. “Do you think you can come home. Dad has fallen, and there is blood all over the bedroom carpet, and his head is bleeding more than I think I can handle.” He is on Warfarin and all bleeding has to be paid attention to in case it won’t stop. Home I went.
He looked like he was ready for Halloween, with blood everywhere. He was lying down with a cold compress on his head, but I got a compress on his head and off we went to the hospital. They came right away with a wheelchair and a tech came out and put a new pressure bandage on and wound it all around his head and then we waited. What a sight in the ER waiting room. After about an hour (they were full and REALLY busy) they took us back into the ER and he ended up in “Hall18”...a bed in the hall. Everyone going by was treated to a guy covered in blood. LOL! (They were still full when we left.)
After about another hour a tech, the same from when we first came, and a doc came and they unwound the bandage....blood started shooting out in about an 8” squirt....squirting everywhere as the tech trying to get the pressure in the right place and the doc starting trying to get the squirting stopped. More pads, more squirting blood, another doctor, more squirting in another direction and about 10 stitches later they got it stopped and the gash stitched up. Then another tech came and cleaned him up, and after about a half hour they came and took blood and then to the cat scan. Finally the doc came back, said his tests were all good and we could go home. Got home about 9:30p.
Into the kitchen, food for both my Mom and Dad, and I went to my computer to check in.....mini scream from my Mom and a LOUD thud! Rush to the kitchen and he had fallen again. Hit nothing on the way down, but he was down. He wanted a pillow and to be left alone. No, we have to get you up and to bed. “Leave me alone!” No...so it took a while but he made it to his knees and was able to help us get him on his feet. The whole way to his room he kept saying, “I can do it myself”. No, hold onto my arm...repeat, repeat. Got him to bed with repeated instruction to wake my Mom if he needed to get up, and not to go ANYWHERE without help.
I will have a walker when I go home tonight. I have been fighting the walker battle for months, but now there is no discussion...HE HAS TO USE ONE. His balance is now a bigger issue.
He was up before I left for work and all extremities are working. He has to be sore from 2 falls, but everything works.
I am actually prepping now by replacing rotted boards and doing some caulking.
Thank you for the thorough update. I know how hard it is to see parents go through this. Have you had previous experience with walkers? I had a walker for Mom that the front wheels turned, that really helped her.
Just many prayers my dear!
BTTT
This is a first....the wheels on front sound like a good idea, as the tip of his cane can get stuck.
Thanks for the prayers...he knows he’s losing a little each day.
Also if you can get one that is light. 2 reasons easier for him to use and it helps whoever has to load or unload it out of vehicle.
Again prayers.
Kathy, hope everything goes OK. There is nothing wrong with using a walker. My mom had one for years and my dad made a shelf for her to put her purse or plate on to eat at meals. We have at least three people who use one at church, and no one says a thing.
So sorry about your Dad,but I can empathize with him.
I turned 80 last month and THE BIG FEAR is loss of independence.
Men seem to have a tougher time letting go, so I wish you well.(I’m a woman)
I’ve been lucky,so far,but it’s a day at a time.
The Golden Years. Phooey!!!!
.
.
Thank you so much, Mears...he is fighting that loss, but if he wants to be mobile he has to use the walker.
Prayers for your independence.
