President Obamas reelection campaign, which only two months ago fretted that it was losing the money race to Republican challenger Mitt Romney, said Saturday that it was on the cusp of raising $1 billion for the 2012 election after posting its strongest fundraising month of the year.
The Obama campaign and the Democratic National Committee raised $181 million last month, easily eclipsing the $114 million that they had raised together in August. The number falls just shy of the all-time monthly record of $193 million, however, which was set by Obama in September 2008.
Campaign manager Jim Messina wrote in an e-mail to supporters that Obamas fundraising efforts in 2012 mark a historic record for grass-roots politics. The campaign says it has collected more than 10 million individual donations so far this year.
The September haul caps a turnaround in Obamas financial status since May. He fell behind his Republican opponent in monthly fundraising through July, but he edged out Romney in August, $114 million to $112 million.
Obama has raised nearly half his money through small donations with aggressive solicitation programs targeting e-mail, social media and cellphone texting services. Last months fundraising also included the Democratic National Convention in Charlotte, N.C., and a notable bump in the polls for the president in subsequent weeks.

Where is the donor scandal that is supposedly about to hit?
Whoever is financing BO and his new house in Hawaii will own him. I sure would hate to live like that.
So how many of these donations came from people who ‘can’t afford to pay taxes’?
Must be a lot of people out there not getting wedding and birthday gifts.
True. This could be the most expensive loss since Carly Fiorina tree away tens of millions at the CA gov race.

Due to his bad month, I bet Romney did about 150 million, under Obama.
But, I think regardless, the spending will be about even in this race with maybe a slight lead to Romney if he comes back on top in October.
That is a true sea change from 2008, when we were just overspent like nuts. If we are close to even, it’s likely good enough to win.

Newest scandal gonna hit Bammy?
Do the math. Extrapolate, from the article, many donors there are. 180M / $53 = 3.4M donors. Granted, that’s a maximum, but the reporting limit is accumulative from what I understand and we probably can assume there are not *that* many repeats if 98% are untraceable.
Extrapolate to 1B and that’s up to nearly 19M donors. For a reference point showing how ridiculous to this, 24M Democrats voted for Obama in 2008 (not counting Independent vote).
Then go to http://www.fundrace.org or another similar website. Look up some liberal zip codes and guess what percentage are Democratic households. Chances are, the percentages of households that donated to Obama are 5% or less — which is ridiculous when the statistics of Obama’s numbers suggest that Obama has a donation base that is equivalent of 30%-80% of all Democrats that voted for Obama.
Obama has a blank check revenue stream from somewhere that is obvious to anyone who can do a teensy bit of math.
All screening restrictions on credit card donations have been removed by Obama.
Therefore, anyone, from anywhere in the world can ‘donate’ and the illegal donations from outside the USA borders are not caught.
He did the same thing in 2008.
2 brothers from GAZA were bragging about how much $$$ they bundled for Obama.
Rich republicans huh? So, just who is rich and who is not?
I looked it up and sure enough, in 2008, Obama spent $740.6m on his campaign compared to McCain's $227.7m. That's just crazy! But it got worse. Between Sept. 1 and Election Day, McCain was outspend by Obama by a 4-1 margin. This was due mainly to fact that McCain took matching funds and thus was not allowed to raise money during the general election period.
I knew McCain was outspent but did not realize it was by that much!
Someone better fess up as to whose credit cards are being tapped here. I have a strange feeling many of the names on these accounts are names we couldn't even pronounce let alone their country of origin. THIS SOURCE OF THESE DONATIONS MUST BE INVESTIGATED; THEY ARE FOREIGN SOURCES; ARABS AND SOROS' WORLDWIDE NWO NETWORK.
You give away a trillion in Stimu-slush funds and get a bit back, easy
I’d like to see a list of how many 1% - 5%ers have given to Obama legally, and then how many communists likes Soros have illegally funded money through front organizations and cash donations.
Harvey Weinstein is a multimillionaire. So is Bill Maher, Michael (the marxist) Moore, Ben Afleck, Mr. Kaiser of Solyndra fraud, George Lucas, etc.
The same for the head of GM, who has been the beneficiary of hundreds of millions to billions of dollars of taxpayers’ money from Obama, and has given a helluva lot of it back in campaign donations to Obama and the Democrats.
Plus he out-sourced several hundred new jobs to Red China within the last year or so. I’m sure the Democrats are going to condemn him as a “Romney-like tax-evader”.
