Mitt Romney didnt just beat Obama on Wednesday night. He also beat the liberal media. So great was his performance that liberal journalists simply had to concede the Presidents defeat a humiliation for an industry that has spent several years setting Obama up as the wisest, most eloquent, most popular politician since FDR. No longer can Romney be dismissed with a gag about a dog strapped to the roof of his car. This uptight rich guy could be the next President of the United States.
Evidence of liberal panic is everywhere. In the hours after the debate, the mood in the MSNBC bunker was near-suicidal and its in tortured moments like these that all pretence of objectivity disappears. Chris Matthews (a former Democrat staffer turned TV motor mouth who undoubtedly talks in his sleep) ranted that Obama ought to watch MSNBC to learn how to fight conservatives. Ed Schultz was stunned and Rachel Maddow thought it might be sort of a draw (in the same way that the Titanic's encounter with an iceberg was sort of a draw). The New York Times ran with the vague headline, Obama and Romney, in First Debate, Spar Over Fixing Economy and called the evening unhelpful. Why? Because their guy lost.

My main point throughout my commentary of this election hasnt been that I want Romney to win but that I think he can. He can because a) this Presidents domestic record is poor, b) Romney is a much better candidate that many people realise and c) Romneys values are more representative of a slim majority of the American people than Obamas. After Wednesdays debate, I hope that all three of these points have become more apparent. Thats why it mattered so much.

However we will concede that he may be the smartest democrat.
The day after the debate he rang again. I was expecting him to say, Hey, you were right! Can you come on to talk about how Romney won? Instead, he said, Can you come to talk about how debates dont really matter? I sighed deeply.
The Brits understand.
Some of them.
Betcha anything that Nobama is going to back out of the remainder of debates. His glee club (the media) will tell bold lies about terrorism and security taking his time away from “campaigning” (as he continues to do fund raisers and campaign speeches). Just watch. Nobama’s boss(Soros) won’t let Romney get anymore face time with the US public. The risk is too high and the they can always spin his no-show (at the debates) to be plausibly truthful.
Remember one of those loons gushied that O was the “philosopher-king” the world had been waiting for since ancient Greece? BARF!
As we saw today, Chicago sent a fish wrapped in newspaper to BSL to bring the numbers down 24 hours after Obama had his ass handed to him in the debate. If the Romney campaign doesn’t counter attach these methods, Obama will steal the election. The next thing he is planning to do is wag the dog and bomb Libya.
Newsweek editor Evan Thomas brought adulation over President Obamas Cairo speech to a whole new level on Friday, declaring on MSNBC: “I mean in a way Obamas standing above the country, above above the world, hes sort of God.”
Anybody here still think we’d be better off somehow or other with Rick Santorum as our candidate???
The MSM are quite simply nothing more than the DNC Ministry of Propaganda.
Ten thousand dollars? ;~)
LOL. Errr, ehhh, uhmmm, nope.
Those of us in Arseachusetts knew all along. Mitt is the consumate executive. He eats details for breakfast. Keep it up, Mitt.
You should take that bet!
Obama can’t back out now, it would be the first time in Presidential history that had happened, and he would forever be painted as a coward. Goodbye street cred & coolness.
Easy money!!
Sorry Hugin, that’s YOUR money!
Romney did good... fine.
Mondale did good in 1984 against Reagan in the first debate and Reagan crushed him in the election.
We beat the Brits in 2 wars, and many of them are more appreciative of American values than are most pundits in America.
Romney’s performance in the debate was very reassuring to Republicans who have only seen him as portrayed by the Democrats/media.
Those Republicans have heaved a sigh of relief and now will be confidently voting for R/R. They know he can win and they know he will be able to lead.
