"Paster" my a$$.
I get that some congregations like to see their pastor appear to be successful. But a brand-new Infiniti and a $15,000 Rolex? Well, it`s their money. But interestingly... these congregants squeal like stuck pigs at the mention of “voter ID,” because suddenly they can`t afford the bus ticket to the DMV.
Expect to see more of this.
Combine “Flash Mobs” with 0bama phones and BINGO.
Michelle will have to go to work on the “convenience store deserts” that are almost certainly to result. Maybe some federal laws to require convenience store chains to locate in urban areas regardless of the risk.
At some point, in situations where public officials simply refuse to do their jobs, people resort to vigilantism, or subcontract the job out to the local Mafia. I wonder when that will start happening in a number of places around the country.
Shut down the gas pumps, do not refill the tanks, cancel the ho-ho deliveries, do not pay the power bill (there goes the slurpy machine!)
Sorry to see a businessman take such a hit but he overstayed his time trying to run a business in a combat zone
“These men are in The God Business. Just like Jesse and Al, and those phony white pastors with their mega churches down in Texas!”
For a pretty good indicator of phonieness scale, count the number of private jets owned by any particular T.V. preacher.
The guy who runs the little party store in my little town has another store in the Detroit area. He says the little store here that gets between 5 and 10 customers per hour has a larger profit margin despite a fraction of the customers. Not as much money overall but operating costs are much lower as well.
Here he doesn’t have to stock a lot of excess crap. He doesn’t have to hire 3 or 4 people to run the store. His insurance rates are much lower and says nothing has been shoplifted in 18 months that he’s owned the place.
Why do we need to fix it?
No troops in Detroit without an exit strategy
” the churchs pastor, Marvin Winans, lost a $15,000 Rolex, a Louis Vuitton wallet with $200 in it and his 2012 Infiniti QX56 SUV”
Ooooh....I think I see the problem.
Thats because that scandalous SOB stands up in the pulpit on Sunday, gets everyone all emotional, and then has send them the offering plate around with a rousing “Brothers and Sisters, GIIIVVVVEEE till it HURTS. Can I get an Halleluh?”
$15000 Rolex, and 2012 Infiniti. Pimpin’ for the Good Lord.
Vomit worthy.
“We own this” is only a half step further than “you didn’t build this”.
Y’all are missing the point. The pastor could have told the media, “I was car-jacked and lost my wallet and watch in the whole ordeal.”
Nope, he had to tell the media that he could afford those “brand” products. Self-aggrandizement. Homie’s playin’ he’s a playah.
And if he were to pull the store out of Detroit, he’d be a “racist”.
In a well-run police department, a police officer suggesting that the store owner hire off duty police would be a violation of their General Orders.
And yes, this store owner should relocate. It will cost too much in security to stay in business.
And these folks wonder why there are no grocery stores or movie theaters in the ghetto...
GET OFF MY LAWN!
Bush’s fault. Yep, no doubt about it.
“The owner calls police, but nothing happens. The police come here and then they leave.”
These are the same heroic Rambos that some FReepers insist will go door-to-door and confiscate weapons. Big city cops are much more interested in retiring and collecting a big, fat pension. They will not die on a hilltop for king obuma. That includes the FBI, ATF, SS and every other fascist federal oinker carrying a badge and gun.
This happened two blocks from the church I attended as a child and where my husband and I were married. When I was growing up the intersection two blocks north was a major shopping area with 4 department stores plus other retail shops. I haven’t been by there in a while, but the area, no doubt, has gone down hill.
Another business closes in a black community and a couple of jobs are lost.
