Ryan: 'I'm not counting on a gaffe' from Biden
Posted by CNN's Greg Clary

(CNN) GOP vice-presidential candidate Paul Ryan said Sunday he's not counting on gaffes from Vice President Joe Biden when they debate on October 11.
"I don't think he will. You know he doesn't do that in debates. The gaffes - he's kind of legendary for this - that's not in these kind of situations," Ryan said on "Fox News Sunday." "He's a very disciplined person when he speaks in these kinds of situations. He doesn't produce gaffes in these moments. Those are when he's off the cuff."

Oh, I would. The Gaffemaster can't go five minutes without one. It's kinda expected by now. Just let the crowd react to the idiot.

I watched the interview and Chris was implacable...even unreasonable. But Ryan did a fine job and never got flustered.
Ryan's a pro.

he is saying he isn’t planning around plugs making an ass of himself. but he will take advantage of it. professional golfers don’t play with an assumption their competitors will bogey a hole but they take advantage when it happens.

I think Ryan is saying that Plugs will sober up for the debate, but even so, I can take him.

Wise decision. If your strategy depends on your opponent making a mistake then you’ve lost already.

Ryan saved his Big Gun for The One today on FNC. He told Chris Wallace:
” I would argue our president is replacing our founding principles.

I don’t think Ryan would take advantage of a Biden gaffe. He absolutely should, but he’s too polite. Our candidates need to ditch the courtesy and take off the gloves. Hussein’s people will have their guys fighting like street thugs; we need to counter.

I can’t agree. Listening to the CSPAN Radio replay I found Ryan evasive, deflecting; he came across like he had something to hide. I was not enthused and found no comfort.

I think he meant to say...”I’m not counting THE gaffe’s from Biden”.
To: newzjunkey
You really needed to see Ryan's confident demeanor. I was only 10 during the Nixon-Kennedy debates, but they say that those who listened to the debate on the radio thought Nixon had won, but those who saw it on TV thought that Kennedy was the clear winner due to how nervous Nixon looked.

I can appreciate your opinion, but consider that Wallace was a hostile interviewer. He was pushy and demanding.
I think Ryan handled himself well considering he was facing a hostile examiner.
That's a very difficult position. Chris was trying to move Ryan off message because it makes for good reportage...Ryan didn't fall for it.

I dont think Ryan would take advantage of a Biden gaffe. He absolutely should, but hes too polite. All Ryan would have to do is look directly into the camera and at the audience and raise an eyebrow.
He is quite good at that.

To: Libloather
This sounds disingenuous since 100% of Biden’s vocabulary in ensconced in the gaffe dictionary and phrase book.
