I can’t agree. Listening to the CSPAN Radio replay I found Ryan evasive, deflecting; he came across like he had something to hide. I was not enthused and found no comfort.

You really needed to see Ryan's confident demeanor. I was only 10 during the Nixon-Kennedy debates, but they say that those who listened to the debate on the radio thought Nixon had won, but those who saw it on TV thought that Kennedy was the clear winner due to how nervous Nixon looked.

I can appreciate your opinion, but consider that Wallace was a hostile interviewer. He was pushy and demanding.
I think Ryan handled himself well considering he was facing a hostile examiner.
That's a very difficult position. Chris was trying to move Ryan off message because it makes for good reportage...Ryan didn't fall for it.
