Fisker Karma earns a failing grade from Consumer Reports ($200 MM down the rat hole)
Consumer Reports ^ | September 25, 2012 | Staff

The striking Fisker Karma extended-range electric car has turned heads for months in our test program, from its distinctive design to its sci-fi hum soundtrack. During that time we've experienced far more than our share of frustrations. And in the final tally, the Karma scores a failing grade.

The Karma ranks as our lowest-rated luxury sedan. Of all sedans, only three have lower overall scores: Chrysler 200, Dodge Avenger, and Nissan Versa SV. (Learn how we test cars.)

Obama handed over $200 MM of our money to Fisker. In return we get a $107 K POS car.

No offense, but Consumer Reports is rag that praised everything Japanese without question.

Their opinion is crap in my book.

Regardless, electic cars are not ready for prime time.

Fisker should memorialize their benefactor and poorly rated car into the model name. Maybe something like the ‘Obama Spendalotta’?

Might have had something to do with them being better cars.

From what I understand Fisker was given an initial line of credit for $500 MM but drew only the $193 MM before someone with some sense in Washington cut them off.

Isn’t this the car that stopped dead and had to be towed off of the Consumer Reports test track - not a good beginning.....

“it also highlights the risks to early adopters for leading-edge cars and technology”

If you had to flat-bed the test vehicle a few times I think you can call it ‘failing-edge’.

Oops, another extended-range golf cart found unfit to drive. Another half billion ObamaBucks flushed down the green Fisker crapper. What on earth are all those Fins going to do for jobs now that no one wants the Karmas they’re making in Finland for the Department of Energy? Oh, well. There’s always the success of their Department of Energy financed battery maker, A123! Oh, wait ...

Fox channel in San Francisco said yesterday AM that charging stations for Tesla cars had been installed in a number of places in Central/Southern Calif.

One of the locations was Harris Ranch, which is a gas station/restaurant stop on I-5. No housing there, altho a very large cattle feed lot—105,000 cattle max.

The announcer went on to say that the charger ONLY worked for one of the 2 models of the Tesla. I think she said it worked for the sedan, but not the sporty convertible.

I am very confused!!

What kind of electric car company would be making ONLY 2 models & they take 2 different kinds of chargers???

Isn’t there going to be any kind of Universal charging plug/system for these cars?

A business is supposed to install an untold number of different charging systems??? A municipality?? A large apartment complex?

This is nuts!!
