Let the GOP know how you feel about them withholding funds for Todd Akin
RNC ^ | 9/25/12 | Self

Posted on 09/25/2012 5:19:29 PM PDT by Evil Slayer

Now that we ALL know Todd Akin is NOT dropping out of the U.S. Senate race, we have an opportunity to let the GOP know how we feel about them holding back funding for him. With your help, we can send a message from not only Missourians but all other states that will get the GOP's attention between now and the election.

When you click on the below url, you will be directed to an official RNC email form asking for your inputs. Please fill this out and send it to them. I have already sent one and intend to send several others until they restore the funding and recognition to Todd Akin that they so shamelessly and audaciously took away.

This thread can be found in the Announcements (News/Activism) sidebar column providing our gracious Admin Mods allow it.

Thank you for participating. Together, we can put enough pressure on the RNC as well as the NRSC to back the only true conservative candidate that is running against Claire McCaskill who is nothing but an ultra liberal Obama clone.

This is what I sent to the GOP via their form. You can use it as a template or create one of your own.

RNC -

HOW DARE YOU ASK ME TO DONATE TO THE RNC WHEN YOU ALLOWED THE NRSC TO WITHDRAW FUNDING FOR MISSOURI’S SENATE CANDIDATE TODD AKIN WHO IS RUNNING AGAINST CLAIRE MCCASKILL. YOU WILL NOT SEE A SINGLE DIME FROM ME UNTIL YOU REINSTATE THE FUNDING FOR AKIN (IMMEDIATELY). TODD AKIN WAS ELECTED BY MISSOURI TO RUN AGAINST MCCASKILL BY A MAJORITY OF VOTERS, YET THE NRSC AND YOU ARE DOING THE VERY THING I WOULD EXPECT FROM OBAMA AND HIS COMMIES BY IGNORING TODD AND AS THOUGH HE WAS SCUM. DO YOU REALLY THINK WE ARE THAT DUMB TO NOT SEE THROUGH WHAT YOU HAVE DONE? SINCE YOU ARE HELL BENT ON LOSING A CRITICAL SEAT IN THE SENATE BY LETTING MCCASKILL WIN, THEN YOU ARE SHOOTING YOURSELF IN THE FOOT. YOU HAVE NO RESPECT FOR ME OR THE MAJORITY OF MISSOURI CONSERVATIVE WHO ARE MAD AS HELL FOR WHAT YOU HAVE DONE.

I DO NOT RECOGNIZE THE REPUBLICAN PARTY I USED TO KNOW. YOU HAVE TURNED INTO SOMETHING UGLY AND HAVE SOLD OUT TO MISSOURI AS WELL AS THIS NATION. YOU REALLY WANT TO LOSE THE SENATE AND YOU REALLY MUST WANT TO LOSE TO OBAMA BY YOUR ACTIONS. WELL, GUESS WHAT, I’M VOTING FOR AKIN BUT YOU AREN’T. THAT MAKES YOU A SOCIALIST PARTY. HOW DOES IT FEEL TO BE A SOCIALIST PARTY? I AM SO ASHAMED OF THE GOP RINOS THAT HAVE TAKEN OVER AND ALLOWED FUNDING TO BE CUT OFF FROM A RESPECTED CONSERVATIVE RUNNING AGAINST A SOCIALIST DEMOCRATE WHO SOLD HER SOUL TO OBAMA AND HIS COMMIE REGIME.

With all due respect, you didn't answer the question.

Would you rather have Senator Claire McCaskill?

“If they do not support him ...they ARE supporting her, simple.”

BS...B as in B, S as in S...

If we are not supporting Akin, we ARE NOT supporting McCaskill by default.

We are supporting other GOP conservative candidates whom we feel have a chance to win.

Dont waste time. Nobody will read it.

Do something more productive ... SUPPORT TODD AKIN FOR SENATE!

http://www.akin.org/

And for the record, I called on Akin to withdraw, but he didnt, so yeah NRSC should suck it up and fund him(*), but instead of whining ... just contribute!

(*) Akin is sucking wind, but Connie Mack IV is doing that too ... so go figure.

Dear RNC
You withheld funds from Todd Akin after ONE gaffe. Ever see the Dems turn on each other like that? Know why? The MEDIA. You are pawns dancing to the tune the media plays instead of silencing it. You should put them people in their place. Until you do, go away.

About Todd Akin

It's time to set the record straight for those who don't know Todd Akin

With a background in engineering and a love of America’s founding principles, Todd Akin is a rarity in the political world. Todd’s humility and unswerving devotion to God and country shine clearly. He has proven himself to be the principled leader who Missourians trust.

Todd was born in 1947, shortly after Paul, his father, returned from fighting in WWII under General Patton. Todd and his three younger brothers grew up on a farm outside of St. Louis where their family had horses and a large workshop. The workshop was a favorite place for the boys.

Todd earned his engineering degree from Worcester Polytechnic Institute in 1971. It was in college that he picked up playing guitar, a hobby which he still greatly enjoys. After graduation, he served as an Army officer and then went on to work for IBM, where he met his future wife, Lulli. On a lovely day in June of 1975, after a year of weekend hiking trips and tennis matches, Todd married his best friend.

In December of 1977, with their first son just a baby, the young couple moved back to Missouri in the middle of a blizzard. That winter was one of the snowiest on record - just perfect for Lulli, whose parents had emigrated from Norway. Todd turned in his IBM suit for a hardhat and began work at Laclede Steel Company, where he was responsible for 2,000 employees and the maintenance of seven mills.

His love of country and conviction that leaders must stand on principle led him to run for State Representative.

In 1984, Todd earned his Master of Divinity degree from Covenant Theological Seminary. Although most of his classmates went on to become pastors or missionaries, Todd took a different path. For several years he studied the founding of America and the principles which made this country great. His love of country and conviction that leaders must stand on principle led him to run for State Representative in 1988.

As a State Representative, Todd quickly gained a reputation for his conservative stands. Although the Missouri House was Democrat controlled at this time, he fought fiercely to protect life, parental rights, and gun ownership. He also worked hard to get concealed carry onto the ballot.

In 2000, Todd ran for U.S. Congress in the 2nd District. It was a hotly contested five-way primary. Although the political elite in DC termed him a “third-tier” candidate, his message resonated with the voters. A shout went up from the hot and tired volunteers who were crowded into the Akins’ living room when they learned that Todd had won by 56 votes. He went on to win the general as well.

As a congressman, Todd continued to champion conservative principles. His very first vote in congress was against “No Child Left Behind.” In fact, he was the only congressman in Missouri to vote against it. Since then, his principled stands have continued. He even withstood the pressure of personal phone calls from the President and threats from his top donors. Yet accompanying these rock-solid convictions is a man who is respectful of his colleagues and willing to work with anyone toward real solutions.

Yet accompanying these rock-solid convictions is a man who is respectful of his colleagues and willing to work with anyone toward real solutions.

Todd was elected Vice-President of his freshman class in Congress. He is a member of the Science, Budget, and Armed Forces Committees, Chairman of the Seapower and Projection Forces Subcommittee, and former co-chair of the House Prayer Breakfast.

During all this, Todd and Lulli found time to homeschool their four boys and two girls. At the bustling Akin home the days were filled with studying at the kitchen table, working in the workshop, attending political events, and building go-carts and tree forts. Todd’s oldest graduated from Missouri Baptist University. The next three boys graduated from the Naval Academy and became Marine Corps officers. Todd’s older daughter is a senior at Hillsdale College and his younger one is still in high school. Three of the boys are now married and Todd has eight spunky grandchildren. When Todd can spare the time, he still loves to build furniture in his workshop, play folk songs on his guitar and play tennis with Lulli.

With a background in engineering and a love of America’s founding principles, Todd Akin is a rarity in the political world. In that world of mudslinging, empty promises, and scrambling for power, Todd’s humility and unswerving devotion to God and country shine clearly. He has proven himself to be the principled leader who Missourians trust.

I live not far from Todd Akins house. His main office is right down the street and I see him around town all the time when Congress is not in session. The people here and across the country who villify him have absolutely no clue who or what he is about.

For those here who continue to browbeat him, please, go out and do some research. Be an informed citizen before you open your mouth. And for those others, the GOPe, Rove, Romney, and yes, even Palin, ya'll can just go to hell. If you were a true conservative, you would have recognized and supported another one.

Even though it will most likely fall on deaf ears, here is the comment I submitted:

“At this point, if the National GOP continues to with hold support for Todd Akin, in Missouri, and the Republicans fail to retake the Senate, should he lose, then the fault lies squarely on the shoulders of the GOP.

He is a much better candidate than McCaskill, and a solid Conservative. Truth be told, I think THAT is the true reason for the GOP throwing him overboard; his dumb comment was just a pretext. Prove me wrong and help the people of Missouri throw McCaskill out on her keester, by giving needed asssitance to Akin.”

It made me feel good for a moment, at least :-)

The fact that Claire wants to run against him is only because she can pound away at his ill-conceived statement and use it to her advantage.

Not sure what Akin’s history is for making stupid comments or his odd behavior. I would think something would have come to light by now.

Do you have anything that I can research?
thanks

You prefer the Democrat. Why are you even on FR? Go over to DU. You’ll feel more at home there.

This is not going to be effective for a number of reasons...”allowed the NRSC” - the RNC has no control over the actions of the NRSC and vice versa - they are wholly separate entities. The NRSC also does not “fund” Todd Akin - they spend their own money independently - there is a certain level through which they could coordinate but generally they run their own show. Todd Akin is responsible for raising his own funds - not the NRSC nor the RNC. He was also not picked by anywhere near a majority - 36%. He was also not the choice of conservatives but of the Democrats and Claire McCaskill who spent millions of dollars to assist him in getting the nomination. Sending soemthing like this to them is not going to be very convincing as the only thing you are proving to them is you don’t know what you are talking about.

If there was actually this ground swell of support from conservatives he would be overwhelmed by so many donations he would have more than enough to make up for the NRSC and SuperPACs leaving the state. That is not happening because conservatives on the whole were just as appauled and embarrassed by what he said as anyone else was. Polls in the aftermath showed most Republicans wanted him to leave the race while most Democrats wanted him to stay.

Now that he is in the race for good, we’ll see what happens. I would assume there will be some under the radar / behind the scenes things going on. DeMint and Santorum have their own PACs so many they will pump some cash into the race.

Akin beat out two strong candidates. Fact is ..he won. He won due to the conservative voters in MO. Here is one of the ads that Claire ran and it sure as hell was not intended to aid Akin in winning. You are listening to media sound bites.

“Todd Akin calls himself the true conservative, but is he too conservative?” asks the narrator of the ad, which is approved by McCaskill’s campaign and paid for by the DSCC. The narrator goes on to note the negative posture Akin has taken toward President Obama, before concluding, “it’s no surprise Todd has been endorsed by the most conservative leaders in our country – Michele Bachmann and Mike Huckabee.”

As for the republican party..yes, they do give candidates money to assist with their campaigns. Why do you think Priebus said that Akin would not get a dime?

If you followed all of the threads on Akin you would see that I am in good company with other Freepers who believe that Akin is not someone we should support.

His gaffe revealed that he is someone, like Rush Limbaugh rightfully claimed, who lives in an "echo chamber". He only hears the stuff he wants to hear. He is not the type I or any sane individual would want at this critical time in American history.

There are plenty of other places to spend dollars to help other Republican candidates who if elected would contribute to the future of America and not just acquire a 99% ACU rating so rubes in his state can get goosebumps at how supposedly "conservative" their representative is.

Ralph Reed was found out to be a scumbag. So was DeLay. So will Akin if his career is extended by the wishful thinking of the easily fooled.

The founder of this website, Jim Robinson, supports Akin. Maybe you should too.

If you don’t support Akin, you are in effect supporting the Demoncrat.

I just got a call from a Romney fundraiser. I told her that if Romney won’t support my state’s Republican nominee for the US Senate why should I support Romney? . Told her all my money is going to Akin. I got the impression I was not the first person that had told her that and she said she would feel the same way if her state’s candidate got the same treatment.

No, I don't. However, there had to be a reason why Claire wanted to run against him and I have to assume it is most likely, he had a tendency to say stupid things and he did not disappoint.

I just read yesterday that Claire was not making a big deal about his comment, on purpose, so as to not chase him from the race. However, as soon as his candidacy was etched in stone, last night, she rolled out ads focusing on his infamous statement. So after she spends millions beating him over the head, how many people will actually vote for him?

For people to vote for the challenger, they have to be credible. Will the voters find him credible in six weeks? We will find out.

Thanks to all of you who sent your comments to the GOP via their contact form. Just wanted to share some good news that you all helped in getting our message through. Go to National Republicans re-open door to spending money on Akin and read about the National Republican Senatorial Committee considering to reverse it's ban on funding Todd Akin.
