COMMENTARY | President Barack Obama began and ended his State of the Union address in January by heaping lavish praise upon the men and women of the military. He used words like "courage, selflessness and teamwork" to describe their ability to bravely accomplish each mission he set for them. The war in Iraq is over. Osama bin Laden is dead. Troops are coming home from Afghanistan. So now -- in a show of thanks -- the president wants to gradually triple their Tricare premiums.
Tricare, according to its website, "is the health care program serving Uniformed Service members, retirees and their families worldwide."
The administration's admitted objective to Congress, as reported by the Washington Free Beacon, is "to force military retirees to reduce their involvement in Tricare and eventually opt out of the program in favor of alternatives established by the 2010 Patient Protection and Affordable Care Act, aka Obamacare."
Under the new plan, Tricare annual premiums will increase 30 percent to 78 percent in the first year. After that the plan more than triples the premium payment in five-year increases ranging from 94 percent to 345 percent.

Then they forced us to pay for it after we had paid for it with our sacrifice.
Now they're looking to force us into the communist single payer system.
Neither party can claim to be on the side of honor, integrity, truth or justice.

Are they subject to the same laws that they pass for us?
Do their children pay for their education...
Does their staff pay for their education, and the children of their staff?
I guess some pigs are more equal than other pigs
At some point I would hope that every past service member would march on DC and demand their elected ruler step down and face trial for treason.
YOU HAVE THAT RIGHT! FO, He has to go!
The POS in the WH hopes to send more senior service members and their spouses to an early demise.... Worrying constantly about their health care benefits. I know I will get that worried call from my Mom... She is sick and does not need this crap.
We have a pig pres....
“At some point I would hope that every past service member would march on DC and demand their elected ruler step down and face trial for treason.”
So it is written, so it shall come to pass.
“When I volunteered, the promise was medical care for life in return for giving up some of our rights, putting our family’s support at risk by placing ourselves at the federal governments disposal, literally.
Then they forced us to pay for it after we had paid for it with our sacrifice..”
I thought it was worth repeating.
I still have all the wonderful marketing tools they used in the sixties. Includes little albums with flip cards of all the benefits.
Active Duty/Retiree Ping.
Not anymore. It’s just a job, and you knew the risks. If you got injured, tough. Find a job on the outside and have the company benefits pay for it.
That is Barry’s view of your service, and how grateful he is. It is a view so outrageous that even Patty Murray opposed it (a stopped clock moment).
Just remember these are the same people that wanted service members to pay for their own hospitalization and recovery after being wounded or injured “on the Job”.
This needs to be made into a campaign ad and run essentially everywhere. There is no one in the country except perhaps Obamacare implementing bureaucrats that want to see this happen. Just awful.
ping
I guess only WE were/are expected to keep our promise....
Once again, American veterans are given the shaft by those don't know the sacrifice we made, and more than likely, don't care.
This is a steaming pile of used cow food

In case you missed this on Fox, the only station to air
it, Obama did propose that the military instruct our soldiers to
purchase their own heath insurance. I don’t care what your political views are...you must read this. Another look at our president, unbelievable!!!!
Bad press, including major mockery of the plan by comedian Jon Stewart, led to President Obama abandoning his proposal to require veterans carry private health insurance to cover the estimated $540 million annual cost to the federal government of treatment for injuries to military personnel received during their tours on active duty.
The President admitted that he was puzzled by the magnitude of the opposition to his proposal.
“Look, it’s an all volunteer force,” Obama complained.
“Nobody made these guys go to war. They had to have
known and accepted the risks. Now they whine about bearing the costs of their choice? It doesn’t compute..”
“I thought these were people who were proud to sacrifice
for their country,” Obama continued. “I wasn’t asking for blood, just money. With the country facing the worst financial crisis in its history, I’d have thought that the patriotic thing to do would be to try to help reduce the nation’s deficit. I guess I underestimated the selfishness of some of my fellow Americans.”
DOES HE PAY FOR HIS OWN INSURANCE???? NO, WE DO!!!!!!
It is the duty of the patriot to protect his country
from his government.” - Thomas Paine
They still have “stop-loss” regulations/laws that will prevent you from getting out when “your country needs you” as well as a fixed “term of enlistment” that prevents quitting so it really still is more than “just a job”. The big problem is that Obama, like most politicians, really doen’t respect those who serve... at best they are a convenient place to go for a “photo-op” when a rating increase is needed.
I agree that the promise was lifetime health care.
I am willing, under one condition, to take less than promised.
As one who the US Constitution actually mentions, the military, and as a retiree from the one, basic role of the US government, the defense of the nation, I actually have a solid footing for insisting that my benefits not be touched. However, I am willing under one condition.
That all other superfluous, wasteful, duplicative, fraudulent and abusive spending FIRST be cut. Cut spending to the bone, and if this country then evidence that it needs to cut more, then I will agree to a cut.
But, it’s insane for me to be cut just so some politician can waste billions on solyndras, food stamps, ssi, junkets, and economy-killing programs.
Why should I give $1000 to a guy who will waste it on caviar and shrimp at the next GSA or State Department bash?
Shouldn’t THAT be stopped first?!!
I retired back in 96 with 20, that lie that was told to so many from the 70's and back to the hero's of WWII, Korea, VietNam is a stab in the back to those.
By a congress that will not live up to it's oath to the constitution.
It is not a matter of just us, it is a matter of honor, of which these clowns in DC have no concept of.
That goes for the clowns in DoD as well, for expediency they have divested themselves of any allegiance to their oath or their service.
I don't mean the Service Secretaries because they are just politicians and as useless as the other politicians. I mean the clowns in uniform that will not stand for the troops, case in point As I write this I am in Kabul and I have never in my 30+ years associated with the mil seen such risk averse candy ass lack of spine leadership.
They are at the risk of every service member here playing some BS game with a administration that has proven to be less than above board on who they are dealing with, propping up a 7th Century (at its best) feudal corrupt administration that was put in place by another corrupt as well as its successor corrupt administration and a State Department that is walking us into several more combat operations Syria,Libya, Iran for no good reason.
I don't even want to ask why a retired SERE Doc is in Kabul. Say hi to NSDQ if you see them.
My prayers are with you. Stay safe. Trust no one. Avoid crowds. Sleep with your weapon and clips.
Thanks you for your service.
