EXCLUSIVE The Department of Education is giving morning-after pills and other birth-control drugs to students at 13 high schools, The Post has learned.
School nurse offices stocked with the contraceptives can dispense Plan B emergency contraception and other oral or injectable birth control to girls without telling their parents unless parents opt out after getting a school informational letter about the new program.
CATCH Connecting Adolescents To Comprehensive Health is part of a citywide attack against the epidemic of teen pregnancy, which spurs many girls most of them poor to drop out of school.
Helayne SeidmanJUST SAY NO: Annette Palacios says that at 15 shes too young for sex, while mom Pania laments not getting a parental opt-out letter. While Big Apple high schools have long supplied free condoms to sexually active teens, this is the first time city schools have dispensed hormonal birth control and Plan B, which can prevent pregnancy if taken up to 72 hours after unprotected sex.
It might be a nationwide first as well. The National Association of School Nurses could cite no other school district supplying Plan B.

Schools sure are disgusting...and these kids are just as disgusting.
School nurse: Sure, here's the special pill. I'm sorry about your headache but I can't give you an aspirin with your parents permission.
If you can figure out a way to reduce the teenage birth-rate in the US without involving this mess...go for it. So far, the only ‘solution’ I’ve seen is raising gas prices up to around $5 a gallon, which apparently restricts most teens to their house for weekends (which we’ve seen this price change actually affect the teenage birth-rate).
This issue has been going on since the 1960s, and frankly, I haven’t anything that really is successful yet.
Can't they just put pill dispensers in every stairwell, bathroom, and under the bleachers?
“... but I can’t give you an aspirin”.
So true. In fact, the school nurse cannot give out medication (even over the counter meds) without a doctor’s note. To give my own child some Tylenol or Excederin, I have to sign them out.. drive OFF of school grounds, give them the pill and drive them back (sign them in). Yet, this school can give out this type of medication without a parent’s okay AND without a doctor’s exam/script? Insanity!
I thought all schools had a “no exceptions” policy about the use of drugs.
Aren’t they breaking the law by providing drugs without a prescription and without the parents knowing about it?
I smell lawsuit.
There are cities and communities that have lower rates of teenage pregnancy than New York, as well as lower rates of STDs. New York is apparently the worst. So what are the more sane communities doing differently? What could New York learn from them? I’d be willing to bet that tougher parents would be part of the solution.
As for our family, I’m going to remind my kids not to touch a New Yorker with a 10 foot pole.
I am sure the randy boys must be loving this. “C’mon girl, it’s all right, you can just take that pill tomorrow.” Just one more way to skirt responsibility for one’s actions, “Comprehensive Health,” my foot. What happens when some girl gets sick or has a stroke and dies from taking these hormones. Parents will find out then. Come to think of it, who needs parents. Meals and health care and sex ed at school let the parents skirt responsibility, too.
Schools across the country routinely confiscate kids’ Advil and their prescription drugs...but hand out sometimes-lethal abortion pills. Ain’t liberalism grand? Baby-murder must be promoted at all costs.
“If a girl dies, so what? It’s a small price to pay to protect the sanctity of abortion.”
These people are totally insane and make me thoroughly sick.
I wonder why more private and charter schools haven’t started up embracing traditional values and a strong freedom- and liberty-curriculum based on Western Civ. Something along the line of Hillsdale College at the K-12 level. There must be a huge business opportunity there.
Since the 'teenage birth-rate' has fallen like a rock over the past thirty years, the government has had to resort to some interesting math tricks. The scare used to be 'underaged pregnancies' - what most people would view as a teenager getting pregnant, one who is still in school and under eighteen years old. Today's rate includes anyone who is the father or the mother and 20 years old or younger (since they might have gotten their partner pregnant when they were 19.)
For those reported pregnancies where the state doesn't include the age of both the mother and father, the government 'calculates' a percentage of that raw birth rate and assigns it to being a teenaged pregnancy. The number also includes illegals who cross the border to give birth, or who give birth in certain designated hospitals in Mexico and in Canada.
Even with all this government fudging, the birthrate has fallen fifty percent from the 1970's levels where they were reporting only underaged pregnancies.
The racist Rat party continues to decimate the black population with abortions and now this.
In about 10 years, we will watch the racist Rat Party throw away their remaining Black voters when their Hispanic voters out number their Black voters.
Of course those Black Voters without a brain or any common sense will continue to vote for their racist Rats, who continue to decimate the Black population with abortion and bc like this aimed at Blacks.

Our younger relatives with kids in school from coast to coast verify what you said.
Many of these schools will not allow rescue drugs on campus for severe asthma attacks, bee stings or food allergies.
One younger male relative with military experience go a rescue drug by RX and a letter from his MD authorizing the use of the drug in an emergency. Then he got a letter from his lawyer to the school board, superintendent, principal and teacher stating that they would be responsible if his child needed a rescue drug and couldn’t get it. They woul be sued in civil court and tried for child endangerment.
He hand delivered the letters and a syringe of the rescue drug to the principal, school rn and home room teacher with the letter. He informed the three of them, if his child died because they didn’t use the rescue drug, they would not have to worry about getting sued.
Schools can’t give out a tylenol without permission from parents.......and I think we all remember some schools not willing give out sun screen without permission.....
Why would anyone be surprised? NYC mandate a sex ed that encourages kids to have sex, starting at 11. No opt out.
Won’t this take a chunk of money away from the abortion business?
