TAMPA (FOX 13) -
Angela Agrippa is an emotional wreck.
"This home just means everything to us, it's just going to be so hard to walk away," she said.
That is her worst nightmare, but it could happen in just four months.
Agrippa bought her home back in 1991 for $61,000. She took a couple of home loans out on it over the years. But the sale of a rental property helped her pay off much of those loans years later.

Lady, stop treating your home like a piggy
bank you can take money out of without paying it back
Sell for $140K and buy down or rent
Stop begging the government to dig you out of your own stupidity

I've applied for three mortgages in my life, none recently. All three applications required a 20% down payment, strict income verification and credit checks.I worked like a dog, denied myself luxuries, etc and I had the last one paid off when I was in my 40's.I learned that from my Dad,a child of the Depression, who paid off our family homestead (in nice house in a nice section of an upper middle class town) in 6 years, all the while supporting a wife (no outside employment) and 4 kids.Just one more example of what my Dad taught me...in his later years, through hard work and self denial,he came to be very comfortable, financially. Not "rich" but far from poor.He drove Oldsmobile 88's when he could have afforded something *much* nicer and wore $15 Timex watches when he could have afforded *much* nicer.Thriftiness and living below one's means are two of the lessons he taught me for which I'll always be grateful.
Are you liistening,Miss Agrippa?????

"Tampa foreclosure attorney Mark Stopa says it's rare to have loan modifications. He says the way the system is set up, banks have no incentive to modify a homeowners loan. Stopa says that's because the government pays the banks back for foreclosures, plus back money owed.
He says smaller banks are more likely to modify loans because they don't get the insurance from the government."
I assume this is an example of a Fannie/Freddie loan guarantee. Banks completely protected, screw the homeowner.
She's not underwater, didn't max out her equity but all the Fed mortgage assistance programs are nothing but show if the banks can just foreclose and collect any losses from the gubmint without lifting a finger and as in this case pick up the lady's equity as a bonus. Solid plan. For the banksters. Sheesh.
