No matter what Mitt Romney wanted this week to be about, it's clear that it's going to be about one thing: A campaign that is off message and in disarray.
The series of stories Monday morning that laid bare latent tensions within the Romney campaign, and in particular, displeasure with the one of the GOP candidate's trusted advisers, Stuart Stevens, turnout out to be just the beginning.
But it was the late-day hidden camera dump by Mother Jones' David Corn and video researcher James Carter that turned out to be the day's real atomic bomb. The leaked videos showed a series of candid moments from a May Romney fundraiser at which the presidential candidate said, among other things, that no matter what" he does, 47 percent of the population is going to vote for Obama because they are "are dependent upon government, who believe that they are victims, who believe the government has a responsibility to care for them, who believe that they are entitled to health care, to food, to housing, to you-name-it."
In the video, Romney is also shown saying, "My job is not to worry about those people. I'll never convince them they should take personal responsibility and care for their lives."
Even so, voters are clearly waiting for the debates to make a final judgment on Romney. At least that was the take away from a focus group of suburban swing voters from Northern Virginia voters conducted last night in Fairfax, Virginia by Peter Hart for the Annenberg Public Policy Center at the University of Pennsylvania.
Despite being inundated with campaign ads,

Meanwhile, if you Do work, and you DO pay taxes, you only did that with the government's help.
Yawn.
It helps Romney unlike what the MSM says.
Actually, it was over at the moment he questioned whether the city of London was prepared for the Olympic games.
Never mind the fact that as a former Olympic games chairman, he was uniquely qualified to have an opinion on the subject.
Don’t apologize for telling the TRUTH!
Election over.
Good lord, he speaks the truth and the left is wetting their panties in excitement thinking Romney hurt his campaign. This is a clear view of how warped the left is that they think the truth is harmful.
Yes Romney is not very likable, but look at what Obama said;
‘’If I had to name my greatest strength, I guess it would be my humility. Greatest weakness, it’s possible that I’m a little too awesome.’’
Now which one is more likable than the other?
the Journ-o-list memo went out last night. All the leftists are using the same words.
Is ABC even still on the air?
What channel? Does anyone watch them?
What are their ratings? say..compared to someone good?
If you want to piss off a Conservative, tell him a lie.
If you want to piss off a Liberal, tell him the truth.
Both Obama and Romney know that position is correct but only Romney has the honesty and wisdom to tell the truth.
The wisdom is in the words, "they should take".
I agree.
These headlines are beyond parody. And, of course, there are a bunch of polls out today showing Romney even with Obama or ahead.
Somehow the “friend of Muslims” President calling out Al Qaeda (bin laden is dead, GM is alive) and having our embassies burned down and Ambassador dead followed by proposed sequestration cuts to embassy security is not even notable or controversial at all.
As stupid as this is, the piling on of Trojan Horse’s Arses like Bill Kristol make me want to vomit.
Local Chicago ABC News babe Kathy Brock is the news reader called upon to deliver the lie every time. She must focus group as trust worthy. She delivered this story of the Romney tape last night like it was serious news.
My not voting for Romney would be a reflection on the poor quality candidate that he is. It's not a reflection of any desire to see Obama re-elected.
I know that you think that you sound smart, but if you want to see conservatives vote for Romney, you should shut up while you're ahead.
I still believe we can convince some of the 47% that they would be better off caring for themselves.
But it’s not easy. The Founding Fathers said the same thing, that if you allow government to get to where a majority can tax the minority, your society will collapse.
But of course, Romney just said he’ll never get them to VOTE for him. That’s probably true. And it’s funny watching Obama claim that this is remarkable, as if Obama thinks everybody would vote for him.
There are 2 candidates
video of burning U.S. Embassies and of the beaten, violated corpses of American diplomats being dragged through the streets belongs to one candidate.
What is this, the ninth time Romney’s campaign is sunk?
I’m starting to get amused rather than get upset with these articles. I wonder if the MSM has cried wolf too many times.
Obviously taken out of context. What he was saying is: “It’s not my job to try and change the minds of these 47% but rather the 6% plus or minus of independents who haven’t committed.” That he would not take care of these people if elected President is a complete fallacy.
