Political reporters on Twitter are saying they are standing by for a Romney media availability on the video released today by Mother Jones of Romney at a May fundraiser speaking frankly of his thoughts on Obama's base voters and their entitlement mentality, aka the 47% who pay no federal income taxes.
The media and GOP-E have jumped ugly on Romney tonight.
Steve Holland, Reuters: Romney at press avail to respond to video says his comments weren't "elegantly stated," and "could have said it in a more effective way."
He’s on Greta now.
None. Welfare reform was popular for a reason. Romney is advertising the huge numbers of additional food stamp and welfare recipients under Obama. Where is the downside? A hefty majority of Americans see themselves as makers not takers. So tell me which demographic does Romney lose with?
We’re talking about 5% of people who amazingly haven’t made up their mind about Obama’s disaster of a presidency. These are very impressionable voters. The MSM will take enough of them with this material. The other 47% they already had locked up.
Regardless, Romney’s only choice is to double-down on his comments and become a full-fledged, clear talking conservative. I don’t think he has it in him.
Really though, if we don’t start talking about it, the country is going to collapss anyhow and all of this becomes a mute point, especially for the 47% who will nothing when it does fall.
He’s not backing down
Get lost! You believe that Romney and team can do no wrong which makes you a Romneybot, I’ve already stated earlier this evening that he needs to stick to his guns on this and not back down.
All Mitt needs to say is there’s nothing honorable or dignified about being dependent on the government and that his policies will create an environment where people can get off their reliance on other people.
ATTA BOY!!!
I’m watching it now...
He...
Doesn’t...
Seem to be apologizing...
yet
“Sorry, but unlike the Democrats, I don’t beleive in a lifetime, generation after generation, of government dependence.
What is he saying? No access to television.
I think this is good news...great way to get the message out. Let Barry go party with Beyonce and Jay-Z...Mitt is being The President again.
It’s all a matter of who we’ll have in power when the collapse hits, and what he’ll do in response.
The same reactionary, mushy, middle of the road people who abandoned Bush right before the election due to a 20 year old DUI. He was leading right up until that happened. Same thing here. What he said isn’t the issue. It’s the grainy, handheld video, breaking news, Romney calls press conference circus atmosphere that makes the average person think it is a Watergate moment.
The comment about people not paying income taxes is particularly stupid. After all there are a lot of hard working people who don’t pay income taxes due to exemptions for dependents.
Back when I was married and had 3 kids at home you can damn well bet I took every exemption I could get and I earned every penny. I worked 12 hours 6 and 7 days a week for it but apparently would have been unworthy of voting for Mitt Saint Jesus.
He said that? Way to go Mitt!
You either believe in a govt society or a free enterprise society
Romney better NOT back down..meanwhile Obama is about to release the Blind Sheikh and no one in the damn media says a damn thing about it
It’s all good—dependance on govt. vs. free enterprise and pursuing dreams.
