The exchange below, between Representative Trent Franks and Assistant Attorney General Thomas Perez, occurred in late July, but is particularly relevant today. Representatvie Franks tries to extract an assurance from Perez that the Obama administration will not push a proposal to criminalize speech against any religion. He has a tough time doing so.

Fire em all. We know this is about protecting Islam and that the left will be able to attack Christianity with immunity. And we wonder why our nation is in its current condition?
No. Hang them all.
It’s already against the law to say bad things against the president. Just ask some North Carolina teachers. Or teachers from any state.
So, Fast and Furious v2.0?
Am liking that code name.
Only if we had the rule of law in this country. So... no, not here in Amerikkka.
Everyone knows that Christianity will never be protected by these proposals.
Its bad enough they want to restrict free speech, its worse that they are being so obviously one sided on who gets free speech and who doesn’t
Come now, in Obama's America, there are no such things as Constitutional Amendments.
This Supreme Court is liable to classify it as Unprotected Hate Speech particularly if the religion is not the dominant one in the country meaning open season on Christianity would remain OK.
That October meeting should never have taken place. From what I can tell, it was basically a meeting allowing Islamists to lobby in favor of ignoring the fundamental freedoms in the US Constitution. If the DOJ had any integrity whatsoever they would have told them to take their repressive, oppressive, depressive list of special treatment and privileges and take them back to the countries where they came from.
Don’t like our freedoms? Then go back where you came from and live in the stone age.
“Wouldnt this change in freedoms require a constitutional amendment?”
No, John Roberts will just say it’s a tax.
Freedom to Agree
Waiting for Godot follows a pair of freepers who divert themselves while waiting expectantly, vainly for someone named GOP to arrive. They claim he’s an acquaintance but in fact hardly know him, admitting that they would not recognize him when they do see him. To occupy the time they eat, sleep, converse, freep, argue, sing, play games, exercise, swap hats, and contemplate suicide anything “to hold the terrible silence at bay”.
How about any day ending in 'Y'? Never too early to mock the Satan-inspired, child-molesting, murdering hell-spawn. (May pigs chew upon him)
Good point on the tax thing. Obama will pass a new tax on expression. Criticism of God, conservatives, Christianity, the tea party, traditional marriage, Republicans and morality in general will incur a $1 per year tax. Criticism of islam, muslim terrorists, abortion, Democrats, homosexuality and immorality will incur a $100,000 tax, per statement. You’ll still have the right to criticize as long as you’re willing and able to pay the tax - just like with Obamacare.
How many rounds of ammo has the government been buying?
Not to play devils advocate, but the DOJ could never say wether something will stay legal/illegal or become legal/illegale- they only enforce the laws (and this administration not very well) and not set them, right? I have a feeling I’m missing something.
0bama has unilaterally overturned Federal Law. What makes you think he can’t implement a ban on insulting Islam? He’ll say such criticism is a terror risk or something like that. Couch it under DHS purview, ‘anti-terror’ policy. He’d have no qualms with doing it.
ah. I see where you are coming from.
