Libyan president: 'No doubt' attack 'preplanned' (Magariaf on Face the Nation)
Politico ^ | September 16, 2012 | Kevin Cirilli

Libya President Mohamed Yousef El-Magariaf said Sunday that 50 arrests have been made in connection with last week's "preplanned" attack on the U.S. consulate in Benghazi that left U.S. Ambassador Chris Stevens and three other Americans dead.

"The way these perpetrators acted and moved -- I think we, and they're choosing the specific date for this so-called demonstration, I think we have no, this leaves us with no doubt that this was pre-planned, determined," Magariaf said on CBS's "Face the Nation."

"And you believe that this was the work of Al Qaeda, and you believe that it was led by foreigners. Is that what you’re telling us?" CBS host Bob Schieffer asked.

"It was planned, definitely. It was planned by foreigners, by people who entered the country a few months ago. And they were planning this criminal act since their arrival," Magariaf said.

Magariaf said that more than 50 arrests have been made with some suspects from Mali and Algeria.

"They entered Libya from different directions. Some of them definitely from Mali and Algeria," Magariaf said.

When Schieffer asked if it would be safe for FBI investigators to enter Libya, Magariaf said he believes the FBI should stay out "for a little while."

"Maybe it is better for them to stay for a little while, for a little while. But until we, we do what we have to do ourselves," Magariaf said. "Any hasty action I think is not welcome."

He called the attacks "ugly" and "criminal" deeds that do not reflect the Libyan people's view toward America.

"These ugly deeds, criminal deeds were directed against the late Ambassador Chris Stevens and his colleagues do not resemble any way, in any sense, the aspirations, the feelings of Libyans towards the United States and its citizens," Magariaf said.

More incompetence from the White House. Someone forgot to send the memo to Libya’s brand new president.

Honesty is always the best policy.

What is also very concerning & disturbing is that they (Islamic extremists) or whatever you may want to call them, have a global network.

On Saturday, there were riots in Sydney's central business district (CBD) close to the US Consulate. According to media reports - here - some 400 "Islamists" were contacted by text messages & via "social media" to protest in the middle of Sydney! The excuse --> Anti-Islam film produced several months ago in California!

More disturbing was that a child was carrying a placard which said "Behead all those who insult the prophet"!! Notice I said Sydney, Australia, not Cairo, Tunisia or Libya.

This naturally raises lots of questions/issues at least here in Australia. For example, should we allow this sort of hatred under the banner of free speech? What are these people doing here, should they be allowed to be here? They won't change their behavior, even as they were subdued temporarily by the police. They are essentially loose canons.

Personally I would be very partisan, ideological and politically incorrect and say that it’s time to re-visit those gun control laws.

Click on (Comments 89) right after article. Of the first 20 or so they’re surprisingly mostly anti-Obama.

I saw they were rioting in Sydney earlier today and was surprised.

I seem to remember a couple or so years ago they were cracking down on the Muslim problem in Australia.

I know how their comments section *usually* works, but lately I’m getting a “The website cannot display the page” message with a side to side scrolling bar. Wierd. I think they don’t like me. But ... well ... the feeling would be mutual. hahah

Legally, you can purchase & own a gun in Australia. But there are conditions attached. Key ones are that you need to be over 18 and have no criminal record.

But I think the situation is more complicated that owning a gun.

I know you don’t have a total prohibition. I’m just one of those crazy Americans who thinks that self-defense is a primary issue in regard to all forms of assault.
