Her dad died on Monday. He’s to be buried on Saturday.

With all the problems and tradgedies going on in the Middle East, a friend sent me a little cheer......one we've probaly all seen before but watch it again.

In honor of my father who tried but failed to get in the Naval Air Force after Pearl Harbor, but still impressed the U.S. Navy enough to get commissioned as an officer on a workhorse vessel which saw action in the Philipines, Guam, Iwo Jima, Okinawa and in the postwar occupation of Japan, I post:

The Naval Hymn

Thanks so much, Biglook! Yes, I've seen it before but it does indeed bear replaying. That was in a time when Patriotism was still "uncool" - but Rick Monday didn't subscribe to the "conventional wisdom" of the day. Lots of men and women have contributed to our Nation's Freedom without serving in our Armed Forces. I submit that Rick Monday is one of them.
