The U.S. Embassy in Cairo released the following statement hours before protesters stormed the embassy building:(bolding is mine)
"The Embassy of the United States in Cairo condemns the continuing efforts by misguided individuals to hurt the religious feelings of Muslims – as we condemn efforts to offend believers of all religions. Today, the 11th anniversary of the September 11, 2001 terrorist attacks on the United States, Americans are honoring our patriots and those who serve our nation as the fitting response to the enemies of democracy. Respect for religious beliefs is a cornerstone of American democracy. We firmly reject the actions by those who abuse the universal right of free speech to hurt the religious beliefs of others."
In a tweet from the embassy that was later deleted, the U.S. embassy in Cairo tweeted:
"We consistently stand up for Muslims around the world and talk abt how Islam is a wonderful religion."
(EDIT and comment by kristinn: The embassy’s Tweet praising Islam as "wonderful" was taken down around 3 or 4 p.m. EDT. A screen grab was not made as far as I know, but someone on Twitter retweeted the message questioning the judgment of the embassy.)
(I personally saw the embassy’s statement before it was deleted. It was made in the context of a Twitter discussion between the embassy and an Arabic speaking Muslim who was saying violence was justified over the alleged anti-Islam film.)

Not that I've heard. If he would say something - anything to the effect that the U.S. protects free speech and the attack on the embassies will not stand - would get me, the biggest mitt hater on the planet, to vote for him. I keep hoping hat he'll give me a reason to vote FOR him.

Islam is okay as “just a religion”, as a socio political system it is horrible.
Muslims are striking against the U.S. in Egypt and Lybia on 9/11 to celebrate that anniversary. Obama supports Islam and Obama is an enemy of the U.S.A. Obama issued an Executive order giving Amnesty to a million illegals. this is an unlawful act. Obama is acting like a dictator and has buried the U.S. in debt. The goal of Islam is world domination. It is a great evil:

Islam advocates killing the non-Muslims and abuses the human rights of minorities and women. Islam expanded mostly by Jihad (holy war) and forced its way by killing the non-believers. In Islam apostasy is the biggest crime punishable by death. Muhammad was a terrorist himself therefore terrorism cannot be separated from the true Islam. Islam means submission and it demands from its followers to submit their wills and thoughts to Muhammad and his imaginary Allah. Allah is a deity that despises reason, democracy, freedom of thought and freedom of expression.
I don't HATE him, but boy howdy....I sure don't LIKE him at all.

Islam is the biggest example of the need to seprate “church” and “state”, but the liberals are too damned blind to this as the obvious truth in front of them.
Actually it is not to seprate the church from the state, but the state from the church.
As most islamic regemes are state sponsored.
