Interesting that this appeared on US TV and then disappeared. (According to posts here - I didn’t see it because I don’t watch TV during the day or virtually any other time.)
And now the building has been burned down?
The staff was actually evacuated earlier. The only people left were the Marines, and I hope they got out, since there was obviously no interest on our part in defending it.
The Arab Spring. Way to go, Bambi!
You’ll notice that not ONE article has named this movie that supposedly insults Islam?
External security for embassies rests with the local army and sometimes police. The marines are responsible for the in side. Some embassies have 9-15 marines and all not on duty at one time. I think a few embassies may have a complement of up to 22.
If 200 people storm the embassies would be hard to kill them all, as much as I’d like to see it. Ou folks are really not that secure against a human wave attack.
In some countries the local gov gives a heads up regarding the demonstration and everyone stays away or hunkers down in the building until the demo is over, but safe, not likely.
In Jerusalem the consulate is guarded on the outside by armenia security personnel. I didn’t see any weapons. Down the block was a small structure with 4 Israeli soldiers. Don’t know what they have in Te Aviv.
Two incidents
The building that burned was in Libya. The wall climbing and flag tearing was in Egypt.
