The author of a new book charges that prominent Republican strategist Karl Rove advised the leader of breast cancer group Susan G. Komen for the Cure to restore funding to Planned Parenthood earlier this year.
Rove’s advice, according to “Planned Bullyhood,” came as Susan G. Komen for the Cure found itself embroiled in a public relations fiasco after announcing it would stop giving money to Planned Parenthood, which has clinics that perform abortions.
In response to protests from pro-choice and other liberal activists, Komen eventually reversed course and announced it would restore funding to Planned Parenthood as the organization did not want to be viewed as political.
Karen Handel — the former Komen senior vice president who resigned during the episode — writes in her book, “Planned Bullyhood,” that Rove was among those advising the organization to reverse course.
In the book, Handel recalls Susan G. Komen for the Cure CEO Nancy Brinker telling her that “I’ve talked to a lot of people. And even Karl says we have to backtrack.”
Handel, who said she didn’t know who “Karl” was at first, recalls Brinker clarifying that she was talking about Rove.
“Planned Bullyhood” is being released Tuesday. Steven Ertelt of LifeNews.com reported the revelation in the book on Monday.
If the allegation is true, it would mean that Rove was advising Komen to restore Planned Parenthood funding as Mitt Romney and the other Republican candidates for president were railing against it.
Rove did not immediately return a request for comment from The Daily Caller.
I coming to despise everything about the GW Bush administration. We wouldn’t be in this mess if Gore had won in 2000. By that I mean obamacare and Obama. Conservatives are going to have to accept the fact we are in this mess because of the Iraq war. No Iraq war, no Obama and no GOP wipeout in 2006, 2008.

Rove is all about the vote, I can respect that. But you don’t deny your own family to buy trinkets for the mistress and her children.

Yep. People try to rationalize with the GOPe distinction. That is understandable but ultimately self defeating. The “GOPe” directs and controls the GOP. It is what it is and it is the GOP. It is not a friend of conservatives, and will continue to ignore conservatives when it is not exploiting them. It will not be taken over by the Tea Party either. Instead, it has for the most part corrupted of coopted the Tea Party.
No credible party represents conservatives and small ‘l’ libertarians. One will emerge, but not yet.
That is why pro-life conservatives in the Northeast despair at election time...here in NH; our choice in one congressional district is Republican pro-death butcher Charles Bass vs. Democrat pro-death butcher Annie (Satan's Daughter) McLane-Kuster.

As for me, he had some time ago fallen into the same professional description as I had for the Carville/Matlin marriage. Nothing but a bunch of POLITIAL WHORES.
I am furthermore leaning that way on Hannity as well. I just won’t listen to him when he starts his referee game with two people gouging their eyes out with all the screaming back and forth while he sets on the ropes and watches.
Just yesterday I turn on the radio and he is starting a conversation with Stuart Varney and all of a sudden he switches to Juan Williams and my radio switched off. He is so deficient of being able to participate in any debate so he calls in his pinch hitters to go against someone like that color bigot Williams.
So, can you yank your head out of the sand or will you need some help? On all days to come out with that load of crap is just telling, just telling.
I have my issues with the Bush administration, but the wars as a result of this day is just plain poppycock to put it nicely. But I prefer to use Bull Squeeze.

Seeing Rove and Trippi on together on Fox kinda creeps me out. It seems that they’re going steady or something. Just... eeeewwww. Rove is a lib. It would be good if he’s just hand over the PAC money and STFU.

I don’t know whether this is true, but I wouldn’t be surprised at all if it was because Karl Rove is an establishment, moderate Republican. The establishment Republicans have to have us conservatives on board to win elections, but it would be easier for them if they didn’t have to pander. In private, Karl Rove could show his true colors, thinking no one would find out.
