We took a family trip to Tampa this weekend and I was very surprised at how many people I heard talking about the election -- and how anti-Obama every conversation was. At the hotel pool, baseball game, breakfast, sitting outside our room on the balcony - we overheard many people discussing. And it was all types of people - a middle-aged Jewish lady (she identified herself as being Jewish), an older couple who seemed more rural, a young woman and man whom we had conversation with at breakfast, a large Italian family who was there for a wedding. It was so interesting to hear what they were saying. Obamacare seems to be the main concern everyone has, along with the poor economy.
At the gas station on the way home, a man told me he liked my Romney/Ryan car sticker and gave a thumbs-up.
Just a personal experience that gave me a glimmer of hope that maybe, just maybe, more people are clued in than I think!
I think they enjoyed all us Republicans who were there the end of August. :)
Thanks for your encouraging words ... hope lots of FReepers stop by and that they will be encouraged as well :)
Now you can make me even happier if you filled up your tank in Manhattan on your way home, of course. ; )
I was pretty down because my niece's roommates are for Obama and these three bimbos are business majors! WTF! My niece is conservative but not confrontational....unlike her aunt. More to your point, my niece attends University of Florida Gainesville. : (
Good news - here’s something “fun” if you haven’t seen it already:

A refreshing, impromptu focus group!
WAR DAMN EAGLE!
That’s real cute! Thanks for posting. : )
Rut Roh!
He said hurry up November “4th” at the end....
I believe what you overheard was a small part of the HUGE silent majority that is ready to come out of the woodwork November 6th.
Personally.. I believe observations like yours more than many of the so called “expert” polls. I have seen more Romney/Ryan yard signs in my neighborhood (compared to Obama). Believe me, in my liberal area... the fact that Romney signs are being put up is a HUGE deal.
I noticed that ... even went & checked the date! Boo boo - needs to fix it ;-)
Yeah, I am hearing LOADS of anti obama talk here in Nevada as well. Lets hope it translates to votes.. but we shall see.
Had a discussion like this in Walmart, with a guy who said he’d vote for Mickey Mouse before he’d vote for Obama, because he couldn’t vote for Obama again but couldn’t vote for Romney.
Went to a family reunion this summer and for the first time heard the majority of my husband’s relatives say they will not vote for Obama. This is in Western NY a very pro-union liberal town and several of the people are retired union. Was shocked. : )
Among my hundreds of friends I only know of one who will vote for Obama, and now she lives out of the country!
You do know what Chizik’s alma mater is right?
Jus curious about your trip since I am a South Tampa native: how was your overall experience? Where did you stay? Where did you eat? Where did you play? Will you come back?
If you do return, don’t hesitate to ask me for references on the above.
I hope you had a great time.
You didn’t run into my idiot sister-in-law down there. Be glad!
