President Barack Obama, picking up support following the Democratic National Convention, widened his narrow lead over Republican U.S. presidential challenger Mitt Romney in a new Reuters/Ipsos poll released on Saturday.

The latest daily tracking poll showed Obama, a Democrat, with a lead of 4 percentage points over Romney. Forty-seven percent of 1,457 likely voters surveyed online over the previous four days said they would vote for Obama if the November 6 elections were held today, compared with 43 percent for Romney.

“The bump is actually happening. I know there was some debate whether it would happen… but it’s here,” said Ipsos pollster Julia Clark, referring to the “bounce” in support that many presidential candidates enjoy after nominating conventions.

Obama had leapfrogged Romney in the daily tracking poll on Friday with a lead of 46 percent to 44 percent.

The president’s lead comes despite a mixed reaction to his convention speech on Thursday night in Charlotte, North Carolina, and Friday’s government data showing that jobs growth slowed sharply last month. [Read more from this story HERE].

48% Give Obama Good or Excellent Marks

By Rasmussen Reports. President Obama continues to earn positive marks for leadership from nearly half the nation’s voters, but there’s a wide partisan difference of opinion on this question.

A new Rasmussen Reports national telephone survey finds that 48% of Likely U.S. Voters rate the president’s leadership as good or excellent. [Read more from this story HERE].

No poll is accurate unless Romney is leading, then it’s accurate. Happens every time.

No, those are inaccurate as well.

See, the press is routinely oversampling Democrats from 7 to 12 points. So the ones with Romney leading, are inaccurate as they underestimate the lead.

This particular poll doesn't even bother to give you the internals. That must mean the oversampling is heinous. They've never stooped to the level of simply omitting the internals before. Expect much more of this.

This is the disease. Obama is merely symptom.

Nearly half the country wants socialism.

This cannot be fixed.

Scott Rasmussen was on FOX NEWS a few days ago and said to expect a bump for Clinton/Obama that would last a week or two.

Romney can “win” each debate but still be judged the “loser” by the media and the American people.

You nailed it friend.

The left has had absolute control over the educational establishment and the media over the last 50 years. We are reaping the results of this.

Get ready for pain.

Just goes to show you how far down into the gutter America has fallen. If he is elected, a year from now people will be screaming how did this happen. Useful idiots, called uninformed voters with hands stuck out.

Yep, if Romney wins the debate, the media will simply say he was “mean-spirited”.

True but all the polls are showing an Obama bounce including Ras.

I’ve been confident Romney would win, but frankly the last few days have been disappointing. Romney getting squishy and the Dems getting away with lies.

At least Ryan was on top of things in Sun morning show.

Go to the Cayman Islands where Romney put his money. Buy a house next to his.

That indicates that Clinton is responsible for a lot of the bump. Would there have been as much of a bump (or any bump at all) if he hadn’t appeared at the convention?

What will Romney do once the bump subsides?

All I can really remember besides what I posted was he said that only 22% of the Independents believe that Obama’s policies were similar to Clinton’s. I was left with the impression that it would be a bump for Clinton not Obama.

Well, the marxist’s strategy is working. Get enough people on entitlements and the votes will come to you.

Romney continues to run a tepid campaign with absolutely no change in strategy. He doesn’t draw contrast enough-he doesn’t talk about enough issues that benefit conservatives in swing states.

I’m demoralized. Hope it’s just a blip in the radar.

As for these voters who are sticking with him, you can’t fix stupid. You literally have lockstep black/latino voters who would still vote for the guy even if he claimed he were a demon

its called weekend polling sample issues that is why weekend polling is usually not done since its always heavy Dem samples .

this ras robo call poll has flipped twice in the last month due to weekend polling .
ras seems to have some sample issues since how reliable is a poll if it swings back and forth each weekend? its swinging based on the day ? weird.
