Wait, I thought he was taken out of context or something?
Via The Hill:
President Obama said Wednesday that he had “regrets for my syntax” regarding his “you didn’t build that” line that has become a rallying cry for his Republican opponents.
“Obviously, I have regrets for my syntax,” Obama said during an interview with WWBT-Norfolk. “But not for the point, because everyone who was there watching knows exactly what I was saying.”
In prior interviews, Obama allies have accused Republicans of taking his remarks out of context.
If you were successful, somebody along the line gave you some help, the president said during a campaign stop in Roanoke, Va. There was a great teacher somewhere in your life. Somebody helped to create this unbelievable American system that we have that allowed you to thrive. Somebody invested in roads and bridges. If youve got a business you didnt build that. Somebody else made that happen.
I am sure he wishes he could have a big fat redo for that day. But you know what he said is what he thinks.
Here’s some serious food for thought given your ideological background, AnnointedIdiot: Garbage in, garbage out, moron! =.=
Barry, you're better off taking your lumps than pointing to the actual context, which reinforces the point that you have no clue what it takes to run a business nor where the tax base truly comes from.
So he wasn’t talking about public financing of the infrastructure that makes business possible? Hoo-kay!
-— But not for the point, because everyone who was there watching knows exactly what I was saying.——
BWAHAHA!!!! Stop! You’re killing me!
Well I agree that that line was taken out of context, but that line wasn't the problem.
It was the words he spoke before; and the attitude and sneer on his face while speaking the previous words that is the problem.
He was clearly ridiculing and belittling those who have built something.
The “actual context” was
“You don’t deserve the fruits of your labor because others helped you along the way. This justifies my policy of rapacious taxation rates on your profits.”
This is exactly what he said, what he meant, and what no supporter of his would EVER admit, though it is the core of their ideology.
you can’t be serious.
“public infrastructure” that “makes” buines possible
what a hoot.
no dim wit, business comes first then they build the road, the telegraph, etc.
you are delusional
He doesn’t regret what he said. He regrets that he was so clear and pithy that he wrote our slogan for us. If only it had been vague and pedantic ... more like the rest of what he says.
SnakeDoc
It is NOT a chicken or an egg question
Business generates the tax dollars that secondarily pay for the road, the police
get a clue
no wonder Democrats can’t do anything right, they get everything backwards
The public infrastructure exists because of the business, not the other way around. The full context of the quote also shows that he scorns the idea that anyone is successful because they’re smart or worked hard, but instead they only succeed because Mac Daddy Government is there to help them along.
He was on the campaign trail all revved up and angry. He meant every word.
What Federal Government Tax is NOT a SIN TAX?
hussein, your "apology" (boy you seem to apologize a lot!) is just making it worse. Actually better from my viewpoint. The more people see the real hussein, the real motives, the real intent, the better. Everyone should go see "2016 obama's America." Scariest movie I've ever seen. Scary to think enough people may be stupid enough and/or gullible enough to re-elect him, in which case I think America is screwed for at least a generation or two.
BTW,.... I live, in MA. In 08, every tenth car had an Odumbo sticker. Now, I count one a day on a one hour commute. And now the Romney stickers are sprouting up.
I am also getting laid-off in a couple of weeks for the second time during the Odumbo regime (doing fine financially though). Guess who I’m voting for?
He said it in a condescending manner, and the syntax came out exactly as he intended.
I won’t let him walk this one back. Nor should any Freeper.
We have one of those “undecideds” in our office. I showed him what Obama said, and his response was, “well, both sides say stupid things”. For which I replied, “show me anything that Romney has said that is even close to this stupid or extreme”. He couldn’t think of an example, which has really made an impression on him.
Burning bridges. Obama was merely reinforcing his anti private property and antibidness agenda. He believes that my money made someone else poor.
So far from the Right, individual freedom, personal responsibility, private property rights, and rule of law.
President Mulligan speaks.
It is sweet to see your enemy on the defensive. Now is the time for a massive “We Built This” ad buy. Keep up the skeer!
