Wait, I thought he was taken out of context or something?
Via The Hill:
President Obama said Wednesday that he had “regrets for my syntax” regarding his “you didn’t build that” line that has become a rallying cry for his Republican opponents.
“Obviously, I have regrets for my syntax,” Obama said during an interview with WWBT-Norfolk. “But not for the point, because everyone who was there watching knows exactly what I was saying.”
In prior interviews, Obama allies have accused Republicans of taking his remarks out of context.
If you were successful, somebody along the line gave you some help, the president said during a campaign stop in Roanoke, Va. There was a great teacher somewhere in your life. Somebody helped to create this unbelievable American system that we have that allowed you to thrive. Somebody invested in roads and bridges. If youve got a business you didnt build that. Somebody else made that happen.
That’s right, keep parsing words, that’ll win ya the White House.
Public infrastructure that makes business possible.
Is he talking about Zoning, permits, inspections, regulations, environmental impact statements, health Department regulations, impact fees, and all of the various and sundry hurdles the Government makes business jump through before they allow a business to be built?
The government infractructure that makes it so hard to open a business???
He may regret what he said, but he doesn’t regret what he meant.
What he regrets is that he showed his true colors and people saw it and didn’t like it.
He is like a kid who got caught reaching for the cookie jar. He still wanted the cookies. He just didn’t want Mom to catch him trying to get them. (He will try again when he thinks Mom isn’t looking. He’ll just be sneakier next time.)
you have sheet for brains
Who taught him the word syntax?
It is the viewpoint of our honorable Democratic party members that God made, oops, no not God, that somehow out of thin air was made one limited pie that must be fairly divided among all humans. Hence the demonic calls for population control
It is the viewpoint of believers that God provides out of his riches plenty for everybody.
Thank you for clarifying it for me.
I was about to rag on his Harvard education and intelligence because it seems impossible to flub the syntax of a four-word sentence. He regrets tipping his hand.
OK
Shudda thought about that before you went off the teleprompter and starting ad-libbing. Everyone knows you’re a total dumbass when you don’t have prepared remarks to read.
IMHO, you expressed your true feelings from deep inside you. Your contempt for small business owners, the true backbone of our nation, fits perfectly with all your other Marxist ideas.
I wonder if he regrets more that he did not have his teleprompter with him to tell him what to mouth.
It’s an old political chestnut, but if you’re explaining you’re losing. Keep telling us we didn’t hear what we heard Barack.
There was a great teacher somewhere in your life. Somebody helped to create this unbelievable American system that we have that allowed you to thrive. Somebody invested in roads and bridges. If youve got a business you didnt build that. Somebody else made that happen.
you didnt build that.
Well I agree that that line was taken out of context, but that line wasn’t the problem.”
How can yyou possibly sat that line is out of context?
If you listen to the entire set of remarks, Obama's combative tone is unmistakable. And even if you read the entire set of remarks, he doubled down on the meme:
You didn't get there on your own. I'm always struck by people who think, Well, it must be because I was just so smart! There are a lot of smart people out there. It must be because I worked harder than everybody else. Let me tell you something. There are a whole bunch of hardworkin' people out there!
He is basically telling you that any success you have is not due to education, or hard work. And the DNC theme earlier this week completes the meme:
Government is the only thing we all belong to.
“I’m also getting laid off in a couple of weeks....”
Prayers for you. I know that job uncertainty is very stressful. Good thoughts and wishes coming your way that you find a great job.
Syntax? The sentence seems perfectly grammatical to me.
And yet again Chair takes some gas and pours it on the fire.
No problem. A few more “You didn’t build that” ads should do the trick.
The marxist-in-chief does not regret what he said. He does not regret the context of his message. He does not regret the “syntax” of what he said.
What he regrets is that people were paying attention, people called him on it, and he cannot talk his way out of it. What he regrets is exposing his true colors in a public forum. What he regrets is having video of his speech in his own words posted everywhere for everyone to see. What he regrets is being caught, like all thieves.
And only somebody who's never really built anything would think that.
Because he thinks we’re all too stupid to know what Syntax means.
