CHARLOTTE, N.C. The chief meteorologist at a Charlotte television station is questioning the decision by Democrats to move President Obamas acceptance speech at the Democratic National Convention to a smaller venue because of the weather.
Thursday night will likely be the best weather of the entire week, Brad Panovich of WCNC-NBC TV wrote on Twitter in reference to when Obamas speech was planned to take place at the outside Bank of America stadium, which can accommodate 70,000 people.
The Democratic National Committee on Wednesday announced that the weather is forcing them to relocate Obamas speech to the Time Warner Cable Arena, which is inside and holds a far fewer 22,000 people.
In a series of tweets on Wednesday morning after the news broke, Panovich said theres only a 20 to 30 percent chance of rain or storms and argued that if you are going to move inside for this small risk you could have done that days ago.
Said Panovich: My main point is if you were going to move inside for the small [weather] threat Thursday [,you] could have made that decision a week ago.
Republicans reacted to the news asking whether the change is really because the Democrats are worried about filling enough seats in the outdoor venue for the video cameras.
Problems filling the seats? Republican National Committee spokeswoman Kirsten Kukowski told reporters in a Wednesday email.

PMG there are still people out there which thinks bama is a messiah, why woudl be be puzzled ? Maybe if he took his blinkers off then he woudl know the weather has nothing to do with it and it;s all about trying to fill up seats.
LOL They coudln’t even give enough tickets away to fill the stadium.
And the Dems just keep on giving us laughs, now maybe for once in their miserable lives the media could do their job and report on tis .
ARF.
They are ignoring so may points about this convention, not asking any decent sort of tough questions.
Ah,,that picture is a perfect illustration of the imaginary masses waiting to see their savior.
the thing with the Dems and much more tothe point is liberals and homosexuals is that they surround themselves with like minded folks and when they hear someone who does not have the same views of them they freak.
Here the problem is that they have told each other so many times how normal they are, how they are the majority and how cool they are that reality does not hit them until it is too late for them and then they blame the lack of supporters for their agenda on the right.
It’s like they always overplay teir hand, occupy,. now this are perfect examples of the fringe left
” Its not as if they Republicans filled every seat at their convention. I did actually see one empty seat.”
That guy was in the mens room.
The UK Telegraph covered this. They tore Obama a new one : )
The refrain should be “democrats even lie about the weather to avoid empty chairs at an obama speech”
Aw. Think of all the empty seats they have to pay for now.
If they announce that is their intention before midnight tonight, I'll make the drive from Maryland to join them.
Could dems be lying about this issue? They wouldn’t do that, would they? /s
...and they are all registered voters!
Very well said.
But it's wrong for us to want states to require ID to vote. Hypocrites
The video on that is down.
How do I change my screen name?
That will be no problem considering that the media will take up the bulk of the seats, as reported, leaving not many for the delegates and invited guests. I thought I read the media takes up 15,000 seats but that figure seems a bit too high.
At 6 tonight the weather channel was reporting a 90% chance of thunderstorms at 8pm and an 80% at 9pm. Big change in forecast don’t you think?
