First Lady Michelle Obama’s pitch to voters last night relied on the premise that she and her husband understand what it is to struggle to make ends meet. She spoke movingly about their early years--about how a young Barack Obama drove a car that was “rusted out" and found his furniture “in a dumpster,” how they both came from families that had to “scrape by.” Her fairy tale--however well-delivered--was one great, big, colorful lie.
Both Michelle Robinson and Barack Obama began their adult lives with a leg up on the rest of America. They attended elite schools: Michelle went to Whitney Young, the public magnet school for Chicago’s upper class, while Barack attended Punahou, the private prep school for the top stratum of Hawaiian society. They were accepted to Ivy League schools despite undistinguished credentials, and both attended Harvard Law School.

It’s been my understanding that people who TRULY come from humble backgrounds, keep a modest lifestyle the remainder of their life. Sam Walton, one of the richest men in the USA (Walmart) - drove a beat up truck, and lived in a nice, but modest home. It’s a fundamental part of who they are, they know their roots - and feel uncomfortable in lavish homes and servants.
Obama doesn’t think twice about taking his private 747 on a vacation, so he can meet up with his wife who took her private jet out a few hours previously. They flew separately out to gather his Nobel Peace Prize (for doing nothing, on the pretext he would do ‘something’). And that is just typical behavior for the Obama’s.
They seem to enjoy lavish living, flaunting designer wardrobes to do menial tasks, like shopping at Target, working in a “Garden”, or other things like the “little people”. There is nothing humble about them, that would suggest that any portion of her story has a shred of truth.

I love it that the DNC held their convention in a Right To Work State. Is that why they told their busloads of Obama’s army/union workers to stay home? I hope Clinton gives them a slap down with his unvetted speech.
The thing is, the rusted out car and rescued furniture probably are not lies. The impression they give is false, but the bare assertions are probably true. All they reflect is that the Obamas were once students and that their families were not so wealthy as to lavish them with sizable allowances while in college and law school. Except for the scions of actual wealth, students at top schools generally don’t have much disposable income and will drive clunkers (unless they got a car as a HS or college graduation present as is the custom in some parts of the American middle class) and scrounge used furniture.
I went to a good private liberal arts college and still have a cast iron frying pan I reclaimed from a trash-heap while a student there (the town where the college was located had a one-day-a-year clean up day when the municipal trash service would haul away anything, and the nanny-state had not yet decided that trash has an owner, so under the Lockean theory of appropriation from common, the students would trawl the trash-heaps looking for finds — students living off campus often reclaimed furniture from common as the Obamas did). I was a grad student at an Ivy League school (Penn) and would have been driving a rusted out car had not the bizarre nanny-state inspection regime in PA made me perpetually fix the holes with screen and body-putty. So?
The notion that this is indicative of hardship is a lie. These were just the normal experience of students, who generally have it pretty good but can’t afford to buy new cars or furniture.
Get these lying bastards out of my country..and take their private airplanes away from them,they have used enough of our money taking vacations..also take the dogs little plane away..Disgusting liars...
