CHARLOTTE Earlier this evening, in an appearance on Fox News, Democratic National Committee chair Debbie Wasserman Schultz accused the Washington Examiner of deliberately misquoting her comments claiming that Israeli Ambassador Michael Oren stated that Republicans were dangerous for Israel.
The Washington Examiner is posting the audio below so that readers can judge for themselves whether Wasserman Schultz was misquoted.
By way of background, on Monday, the Obama campaigns Jewish outreach arm held a training session at the Democratic National Convention instructing Jewish Democrats on how to convince fellow Jews to vote for Obama by breaking through what she characterized as Republican distortions of President Obamas record on Israel.
Heres how I reported on Wasserman Schultzs statement in my writeup of the event:
As she was wrapping up her remarks, she claimed that, We know, and Ive heard no less than Ambassador Michael Oren say this, that what the Republicans are doing is dangerous for Israel.
The Washington Examiner could find no such public reference by Oren accusing Republicans of being dangerous to Israel. The Israeli embassy would not respond to a request for comment. (Update: The Israeli embassy has responded.)
Wasserman Schultz went on to elaborate that Republicans were undermining Israels security by suggesting that the United States and Israel dont have anything other than a unique and close and special relationship. It undermines Israels security to its neighbors in the Arab world and to its enemies. And we need to make sure that the fact that there has never been and will never be daylight between the two parties or the support for Israel that we have in the United States, that that is conveyed to Jewish Americans across this country. Thats our responsibility. Its the responsibility were asking all of you to take on.
You can read my full post here.
After my report ran, the Israeli embassy put out a statement from Oren in which he said: I categorically deny that I ever characterized Republican policies as harmful to Israel. Bipartisan support is a paramount national interest for Israel, and we have great friends on both sides of the aisle.
Tonight, Fox News Shepard Smith asked Wasserman Schultz about my story and Orens response.
I didnt say he said that, Wasserman Schultz insisted. And unfortunately, that comment was reported by a conservative newspaper. Its not surprising they would deliberately misquote me. What I always say is that unfortunately the Republicans have made Israel a political football, which is dangerous for Israel. And Ambassador Oren has said that we cant ever suggest that there is any daylight between the two parties on Israel because there isnt. And that thats harmful to Israel. Thats what I said, and that is accurate.
Below, find the audio of what she said on Monday, which Im confident demonstrates that I quoted her accurately in my story. The relevant part starts around the 28-second mark.
After listening to the audio, you can check out the clip above of her on Fox News saying she was deliberately misquoted, and judge for yourself.
Yes, she said what was reported she said.

Has she claimed that she’s an Indian yet?
Busted
It’s weird how every time one of the ‘RATS says something goofy, they claim that they were “misquoted” or “taken out of context”. Nope. It’s because they are morons.
I saw her interviewed today by Smith. It was obvious she was lying—her lips were moving.
In the words of slick willy, Debbie you better put some ice on that!
GOTCHA!
The list, Ping
Let me know if you would like to be on or off the ping list
Lemme guess: “outta context”!
Thank you so much for posting this.
I’ll admit that I’m not a kid any longer and I do like my cerveza but I do believe I saw or heard Democrats talking about Jews and a final something or other.
That sure sounds like what happened in Germany with the final solution being applied to 6 million innocent people.
She lied twice. First, she lied when she said that the amabassador had said those words, and then she lied when she said she was misquoted. Thier strategy here is to say anything to make Jews believe that BHO is a big supporter of Israel and anyone who suggest otherwise is the real threat to Israel, or in other words, saying that this administration is a threat to Israel, is a threat to Israel.
WASSERMAN SCHULTZ: Anderson, it doesnt matter anyway you slice it.
The woman is a serial liar.
Most politicians lie. Wasserman Shultz takes lying to a whole different level.
I think there is a psychological pathology when a person lies like her and will not admit it when they are confronted with their own words.
Obama does the same thing.
Has she claimed that shes an Indian yet?
RATs always lie about everything, especially her. All the proof you need is to know whether or not her lips were moving.
She’s as phony a Jew as Fauxahontis is an Indian, and could truly give a RATs-@$$ about Israel.
1) How could this woman assume there was no chance she'd been recorded?
2) Will anyone in the mainstream media call her on these latest lies?
3) What can she possibly say in her own defense now?
