Speculation Mounts That Ron Paul Will Launch Third Party Presidential Bid On Tuesday’s Tonight Show

Speculation is mounting that Texas Rep. Ron Paul will mount a third party bid for the presidency as pressure from his supporters builds ahead of his appearance Tuesday night on NBC’s Tonight Show with Jay Leno.

According to a report, Paul’s supporters were deeply upset by how the libertarian Texas Representative was treated at the Republican National Convention last week. 300 of them joined in a conference call on Sunday night planning to urge Paul to launch a last-minute independent bid for the White House.

In order for Paul to appear on the ballot in all 50 states, he would have to join the Libertarian party’s ticket — either as former New Mexico Gov. Gary Johnson’s running mate or as his replacement. The party’s present vice presidential nominee, Jim Gray, would have to drop out of the race.

I wonder how much Soros is paying him?

Romney-Ryan has nothing to worry about w a 3d Party Ron Paul bid. He is so anti-war he will take a number of Dems away from Obama.

Oh yeah, this will make me vote for Paul. They literally have no chance in hell at winning anything, much less actually being able to get anything through Congress.

No chance of that happening. He’ll be Romney’s new
Secretary of the Treasury.

he was being elected by one district in southeast Texas, not the whole state. He has been gerrymandered out of a job anyways

If he were truly serious about his candidacy he would have gone independent earlier this year. Now is not the time.

To do so now would be only as a “spoiler”.

All you RINOs on this board sicken me. I gag when I say that Romney must win. I detest “New Deal Republicans” of which many Repubs are. Obama has destructive, anti-US intent and must be defeated; I don't believe that Romney is that malevolent, however Democrat his positions are. It is only as an anti-Obama vote that I will vote for Romney.

On the other hand, a Romney loss would serve the Republicans right. Their rule change crap was gratuitous - Romney would win no doubt. It caps-off all their shenanigans during the primaries. The RNC can burn in hell, this is their last ride, the last vote from me that they can count on, the last contributions. No more.

Repubs had better repeal ‘Obamacare’ on day one. Not "repeal and replace". I doubt they're up to the job. And that's just a baby-step in turning back the statist/socialist bilge we've been swimming in.

Now is not the time for Paul to run. But a kick in the teeth to the RNC swine who foisted Romney on us would serve them damn right. We need a second party.

“Quite honestly I think Ron Paul might take more votes from Obama than Romney...”

I agree with you.

I also predicted upon seeing the headline that I would click on the thread to find a bunch of freepers freaking out about it - knee-jerk style.

If there is anything we have around here in abundance lately it is jerking knees.

My prediction on a Ron Paul “third party” run is that it won’t matter.

Rand Paul will be the loser and I don’t think that Ron wants to destroy his political career. We will see but I think that Ron knows its a young mans game and he is loyal to his son.

Rand Paul is pretty much political toast after he supported Romney before his dad officially dropped his campaign...which totally urinated off the Paulsters. Rand will not be re-elected if the Paulsters do not vote for him

Anyone voting for Ron Paul is, in fact, an idiot. And that includes any Freepers who support him.

If you fit this category, look in the mirror and say. I am a GD fool over and over, then put a bullet in your head and spare the world your stupidity forevermore.

Paul has enough money. He won’t be running third party.

I agree. The RNC stupidly stub their noses at Ron Paul. If Ron Paul changes party the RNC urged it on.

Well, Texans keep electing him over and over and over, so I guess they are a bunch of crybabies too.

No one said he was elected by the "Whole" state.

Fact is people in Texas have continued to elect and support him year after year.

Well you can bet Willard will promise him a cabinet position for not going third party. He’d be crazy not to, and Paul would be crazy not to accept it.

Mr. Paul... Don’t do it. If you do, and we end up with 4 more years of hussein there is a huge segment of the GOP that - while they may agree with you - will never forgive you for subjecting us, our Country, and our children to four more years of hussein.

Hey, why not? Then we could have the three worst candidates in history running in the general election.

I want a do-over.

A poll was done back in May for a 3 way Romney/Obama/Paul race.

Three-Way Race: Romney 44%, Obama 39%, Ron Paul 13%

I guess according to Rue Paul we have to destroy the village in order to save it.

He does this he is a bigger narcissist than OTrama.

You’re right. It is highly unlikely that he would harm Rand’s chances in the future. It won’t do any good to point this out because the RP threads are never rational, informed, or balanced.

It will probably be Mittens in a landslide, and the useful idiots the GOPe relies on will live to regret it.
