Secret Service U-Haul stolen from Detroit Hotel

DETROIT -

A U-Haul being used by the secret service for Vice President Joe Biden's visit to the Labor Day Rally in Detroit on Monday was stolen out of a hotel parking lot Sunday morning.

The U-Haul was stolen form the Holiday Inn parking lot in downtown Detroit on Washington Boulevard.

The hotel has declined to comment.

The U-haul is 14-feet high, has an Arkansas backdrop on the side of the truck and has Arizona plates. The plate number is: AD09406.

Anyone who's seen this U-Haul is encouraged to call police.

The economy must be hurting them bad also, renting a U-Haul truck where they could have picked up a good used one for about $ 8,000 ? and staying at Holiday Inn ?
Or did they thought ? what the heck, even if it get's stolen it's no skin off our teeth( they knew they were going to Detroit ), let the U-Haul company worry about it.

They take planes to their location so to get all their gear to an event they have to rent a U-Haul at the airport. It's actually cost effective and efficient.........as long as they don't lose it!

If you are I purchased online or at the store.

Federal government would require a study at a cost of tens of thousands and purchase 100 units. This is how we get pay $600 for a hammer.

Here in California, they would have a group of state employed engineers rewrite the specifications so that no off the shelf part would meet. Some manufacturer would retool, but for a minimum order of 10,000 units. The state only needs 5 so they would procure the 10,000 units at a cost of $400 each. Then they would sell the 9,995 units for $20 at auction to raise cash because the state is broke.
