An Astoria, Queens, resident with an arsenal of weapons including handguns, high-capacity rifle magazines, 10,000 rounds of ammo and 32 machetes was busted yesterday, cops said.
Michael Millazzo, 53, was taken into custody after cops broke down his door at 6:30 a.m. They initially were called to the address on Sunday over reports that someone was firing shots into the air.
Cops identified the alleged gun hoarder through video surveillance, which led them to his apartment, where they found his weapons.
In the stockpile, cops found 10,537 rounds of ammo, a 9mm firearm, six high-capacity rifle magazines, a .40-caliber Glock, 60 knives, 16 air pistols and seven tasers.

The more interesting part of the article for me is the use of video surveillance to monitor the citizen. That is the real scary part. NY leadership stated that they were installing a facial recognition computer system to track residents.
Amazing that there was not an uprising.
Amazing that there isn't an uprising in this country against surveillance.
Strange; no mention of a rifle to go with the magazines.
I have a few of the low end model Cold Steel kukris and they are only good for whacking at weeds. The high end model is the only one to get. I also have an original old kukri that is an awesome weapon and tool. I carry it in my work rig to cut downed aspen that fall in the trail. It goes right through 2-3” trunks and chops the bigger ones quick.
I have quite a few machetes, starting with a long bladed model my dad got in Venezuela 50 years ago.
No keeedean. I thought my IPad hosed up until saw it was try to fit that photo.
No one noticed the use of the pejorative term “gun hoarder”?
The gerbalist is trying to make out people like us who own more than one gun (or maybe just one gun) as mentally ill, since hoarding is mental illness.
Maybe this is something new in their style book: “Call the gun nuts `hoarders’”.
Ctd sells a number of different vendor lines. The united cutlery ones seem to be durable. I know the knives are.
You want stuff that guards your hand and fingers, not only for protection but gives you a better chance of retaining the weapon in your hand.
As one of the Texas 5th circuit judges on the U.S. v. Emerson 2nd amendment case remarked in passing at oral argument, he and one of the other judges on the three-judge panel "had almost as many firearms between them as a small Latin American country".
Was he really firing shots or was this just an excuse to investigate him?
Was he breaking any laws?
Was he threatening people?
I think I’d find it hard to swing more than two machetes so a guy with two is about as dangerous as this guy.

I need more machetes.
I would be very interested to know what law if any he broke and especially one worthy of breaking down someone’s door.
They came as a package deal on HSN.

THE GUN NUT
I am an upright citizen.
I cannot stand the smell of power even.
Yet I own all kinds of weapons,
Leaving me but few laudations.
Since I know not how to use them,
Just to see that rust does not suffuse them.
I am way low on machetes. I think I only have one, and I am not sure where the yard man keeps it.
Man, I am glad I moved to Texas. I have more stuff than that in my car. :-D
More like "chump change" than an "arsenal"...
