The liberals say they are scared of Karl Rove. They shouldnt be. The former Senior Advisor and Deputy Chief of Staff during the George W. Bush Administration, Rove was called Bushs Brain and is now the Party Boss of the GOP. He is raising up to $1 billion for various Republican Super-PACs, in order to elect Mitt Romney as president. That sounds impressive. But what is he going to do with the money? Perhaps conservatives have reason to be scared of Karl Rove as well. He recently joked about murdering Missouris strong conservative Senate Republican candidate, Todd Akin. Rove -- and Romney had wanted Akin to leave the race because of the comments that he made and apologized for regarding abortion and rape. The controversy over Rove, however, goes far beyond a bad joke to questions about whether Rove actually wants to run a conservative campaign to defeat Obama. Rove made it clear, during the same meeting he trashed Akin, that he doesnt want Republicans to accuse Obama of being a socialist. He thinks Romney can and should win by abandoning conservatives and wooing Obama voters.
Rove, a Fox News Contributor, was quoted as telling a super-secret meeting of Republican fat cats in Tampa, We should sink Todd Akin. If hes found mysteriously murdered, dont look for my whereabouts!

GOPe
Yup. Romney was dropped squarely on our shoulders like a pile of crap.
>> Rove: We should sink Todd Akin. If hes found mysteriously murdered, dont look for my whereabouts!
Would that be “legitimate murder”?
August: Republican Foot-in-Mouth Month.
You know what? I am TIRED of you negative people. Romney wasn't my choice either, but whaddya gonna do? Hope Ron Paul gets some kind of a miracle appointment or something? Quit being so negative and either get behind him or get outta the way fer chrissake.....
I agree. Many of us are equally tired of the Romney attackers. I wonder what names they use on D.U.
I agree. Many of us are equally tired of the Romney attackers. I wonder what names they use on D.U. It’s either Romney or Obama. They sound as though they want Obama.
You might want to speak to Mr. Rove about getting behind his party instead of ridiculing people on a conservative activist site.
You don’t get it. Romney was not a choice. He was annointed the candidate even before the first primary. The primaries were a sham. And it was all engineered by the liberal elite in the party, possibly including Rove. A conservative candidate had no chance.
Why any real conservative still embraces the Republican Party is beyond me. There is no place in the party for conservatives.
I also want Akins to drop out.
He's an embarrassment. Because of his inability to control his ignorance in public, he handed McCaskill the Senate seat in Missouri where she is very unpopular.
At the very least, he is too stupid to realize that he was being set up in an interview with a reporter.
Romney was not "dropped squarely on our shoulders." What happened was what always happened. Instead of getting behind an acceptable Conservative with the chance to win, we divided the vote among several candidates based on litmus tests. This diverted votes from nominal conservatives, who would have been preferrable to Romney, such as Gingrich and Perry to people who passed more of the tests (Santorum, Cain, Bachmann) but had zero chance of winning. On top of that, our primary system is broken. Moderates like Romney and McCain are rewarded for winning huge liberal states like NY & California, which the GOP has zero chance of winning in a general election.
Like I said. Argh!!! Please refer to my original post....
Everybody is a ‘strategerista’ these days.. some more so than others here.. it goes with the joint.. uhh process.
I ain’t happy with what has been served up but I ain’t afraid to vote for Ryan Romney like I did for Palin McCainiac. we lost anyway but this time it’s for all the marbles.. a lot of folks have worked hard to give us at least a somewhat decent chance to stem the flow of bleeding.. shame to let it pass over and not take avail of the options, as bitter as they may be philosophically..
Is the individual more important then ‘the state’?
R the Greeks busted flat?
I’ll get back to you in 500 years. ;-)
Because none of them stood out that much from the other.
Really makes you wonder. A lot of these types of posts today. Seems like the Paulbots want us to forget that they teamed up with the Code Pink radicals to try and disrupt the convention.
Conservative? Hardly.
and anyone who takes his money must believe as he does and that explains why the political landscape is littered with the remains of those who trusted him.
Sure they did. We had some very emotional debates about each and every one of them on this website. I remember that you were involved in some of them.
The point is not that Rove and Co. stuck us with Romney. Conservatives are purists by nature, and many of us got caught up in the flavor of the month when Mittens was never polling above 25% and the nomination was there for the taking. I recognized Gingrich's many flaws, but I settled on him and tried to get others to see the logic in doing so, as opposed to first Bachmann, then Cain, then Santorum, none of whom ever had a chance of winnning. All they did was take votes away from the one legitimate challenger. Now were're stuck with Romney, and I'm being as enthusiastic about the man as I can be. The point in politics is to understand that you never get everything you want and do what it takes to win.
Tell us when he starts, OK?
They all had flaws, that was the problem, it was easy in 1980, because clearly Reagan was head and shoulders above everybody else.
BTW, people are free to vote some other way than you believe to be proper ~ this is not yet a Fascist Dictatorship.
