Isaac has been slow to organize and attain hurricane status. Slow moving minimal Hurricane Isaac threatens to dump up to 20" of rain in portions of its path. Storm surge of 6-12ft is expected.
Media news readers have gleefully reported RNC scheduling adjustments to accommodate public safety during Tampa storm warnings.
A water spout formed in the Tampa Channelside area at 4:43PM Monday afternoon, a short distance from the RNC Convention Center. The Florida Atlantic coast was inundated with torrential rain squalls from far-reaching Isaac outer bands. Several tornados were reported in the Florida peninsula.
The weather took its toll on protester turnout at the GOP convention. Cara Jennings, a community organizer from Palm Beach County, braved the elements dressed as a sparkling pink vagina, along with several dozen other protesters.
GOP governors of Gulf Coast states announced they would remain at their posts, rather than attend the Tampa convention. British Petroleum reported eight oil rigs and 39 production platforms were evacuated late Sunday. By mid-day Monday, personnel had been evacuated from 346 offshore gas and oil platforms, representing 58 percent of the 596 manned platforms in the Gulf of Mexico.
As Isaac ultimately takes aim at the Gulf of Mexico coastline, news outlets wistfully reminisce about the 7th anniversary since Hurricane Katrina, huge television ratings, and once again omit a state named Mississippi in their storm coverage. One thing is certain--news coverage is much more predictable than Hurricane Isaac.

If predictions of a 6-12 ft. storm surge, 20 inches of rain and an essential stall come to fruition, it just might have the same results.
Karl Rove is planting the explosives along the levees as we speak.
It’s only a model. shh.....
“Its probably NOT bad there since Isaac passed that area...about 36 hours ago.”
I talked to my Aunt there a couple days ago. She said it was breezy, warm, and looked like it might rain. No big deal. How much worse could it have been in Tampa? Sounds kinda typical. There are thunderstorm warnings darn near every day down there, usually accompanied by flood warnings.
That’s just not true yet, it very well could be.
Making landfall where you suggested, would make the worst of the storm right over New Orleans. It will not impact east Texas. Remember only 9 inches of rain fell over New Orleans in Katrina. Don’t be thrown off by the lesser winds, the rain is deeper, larger, heavier and is usually the things that causes the most damage in these types of storms.
The 975 mb pressure as of the time I write this is extremely low for a cat 1 storm. This is because of the sheer size of it. 48-72 hours of non stop rain should be expected.
So don’t be thrown off because it never reached Katrina size. Remember Katrina impacted as a cat 2. This one very well could as well.
No thanks! Having the Democrat Convention in this state is bad enough without a storm!
All one needs to remember is the damage to NC with hurricane Floyd. I think it stayed over us for 12 hours. The damage was terrible.
Question about Florida homes without power. Will they have power to watch RNC? Romney speech?

I listened to BO on the radio addressing this. Sometimes you have to really listen. Hi advised us to “listen to our local officials.”
When will we have a true leader like the old days who will tell us, “you have been advised, please be responsible and take care of your self and others.”
Excellent post and conservative color commentary to boot!!
Prayers up for all.
Yep - no guarantees until it is over land and disipating. The slow movement has me concerned that it might have the potential to do a "Katrina" and decide to drift east along the coast instead of heading inland - bad news for us in MS/AL if it does. Some folks were mocking the RNC for playing it safe. Aftre a few hurricanes and Katrina under my belt, I advocate playing it safe.

Did you hear O'Bozo say... FEMA was dispatched "At my direction..."!
I hope you didn't miss that!
Naw...Rove is too busy blowing up our lose knit coalition with these GOPe rule changes at the convention to get rid of conservative grassroots.
GTH Karl and the rest of you elitists!! You want a third party?? Just keep pushing us!!
Thanks!!
