Details are emerging about the man who opened fire at the Empire State Building today, killing his former boss. Mayor Michael Bloomberg identified the shooter as 53-year-old Jeffrey Johnson. According to NYC Police Commissioner Ray Kelly, Johnson worked as a women's accessories designer for Hazan Imports Corporation.
But he apparently lost his job a year ago when the company downsized.
The New York Post reported that Hazan stalked his former boss down the street and shot him.
According to a company profile on ZoomInfo, Hazan Imports employs between 50 and 100 people and focuses on budget handbags. It's located at 10 West 33rd street, right near the Empire State Building:

Several years back, there was a yahoo who led police on a chase from a small town in Idaho clear into downtown Boise. The guy jumped from his truck holding a rifle, cops let loose with a barrage.
It was shown the guy never got a shot off. He was in the middle of a major intersection (Broadway and Myrtle) near the Washington Group plaza. Several of the rounds fired by the officers hit a few of the buildings in that plaza, as well as at least two rounds going beyond those buildings into a park further east of the area. The building I worked in was at the opposite end of the plaza from the shooting and had impact marks on the fourth floor. The nearest building had impact marks a good 25-30 feet above where the officers were located, not more than 200 feet away. It was pure luck the cops didn't kill anyone besides the perp that day.
Lol, a fashion designer! That explains it. Have we ever heard of a fashion designer who wasn’t a loon? I mean, they are, like, three levels deep into leftism: First, they’re socialists. Then, at a deeper level of leftist lunacy, they’re gay. Then, at the final level, they’re fashion designers. LOL. It’s an exponential thing. Every time you descend down to another level, the leftists there are exponentially loonier than the ones above, and the ones at the very top level are already out of their f’n minds.
was he a registered Dem?
It appears he was indeed a Totebagger!
Usual guess would be family owned business. In the "rag" biz, the sales VP would be the real power. He or she finds what the wholesalers/retails want for the next season, trys to undercut the competiton, offers to knock off a design or do one similar but cheaper, better delivery time, etc. A real cutthroat business. It's faced paced and things turn on a dime. Used to be cocktail lounges off to the east where you could hear these folk hundle, kvetch, and deal. Lots of almost prime time models in tow.
Is a variant of the MAC 10 .45 (Semi Auto)?
Looks like one. But they don’t have those in NYC!
First New york trigger was 9 # Tactical shooters use a 3.5 # Stock Glock trigger is 5.5 #
I bet Nanny Bloomberg has one tucked in his underwear and makes people believe he has a rack.
I wonder how many of these shooters are high on drugs? Could be a case for looking at the drug culture instead of this obsession with guns.
Oh, I dunno. I hear you can get asbestos in orange now.
Looks to me to be a handgun with the slide locked open, and two magazines on either side. I don’t think its the MAC 10 in your second image.
I heard one spokesman explaining that the collateral damage was due to the fact that the shooter used a “sawed off shotgun”. I guess one of these could be mistaken for that by the uninformed.
If not, it was merely an oversight.
He's registered NOW.
The NYPD duo fired 16 rounds at Johnson before the killer could squeeze the trigger even once.
Nine people were wounded, all from police gunfire, although none of the wounds were life-threatening, cops said. Most of the injuries were to the legs, feet and arms, cops said.
Everybody that got hit was from police officers, said Robert Asika, an Empire State Building employee who took a bullet to the right elbow.
Sounds like Bloomberg’s gestapo need some gun control.
Of course I have no problem with police emptying their weapons when threatened...it is exactly what anyone should do.
The gun laws in NYC made this situation worse.
Yes, all the bystanders were shot by the 2 cops. ...at close range.
I’m shocked, I thought Unemployment Compensation ran out after Two Years, not One Year.
They had better add another Year as a buffer just in case.
