That was boring. Looks like a bunch of old crap my grandma would’ve stashed away in a trunk. receipts, postcards, pennants, and other useless crap only a little old lady would care about.

Well the proper response, whether to dispossessed Indians or Norsemen, is “Come and take it!”

The careful handwriting also conveys respect for the reader and that the document is worth reading, as well as making them legible. I never minded getting those briefs, although some were very hard to follow as to content. They always seemed to come from offenders with *relatively* minor offenses, who really felt there was some merit to their case.

That’s what I was wondering. Their English is good, so it seemed odd for her to make a basic error like that, if she meant 1904/1909. 1814/1819?

Maybe it was something they ordered on EBay.

Look at the date on the package. The 26th not the 24th.

“Look at the date on the package. The 26th not the 24th.”

Well, I’m not sitting through two whole days of commercials in Klingon just to see a 100 year old lutefisk wearing Helen Thomas’ old underwear.

been to Norway 9 times at 3 months intervals when I was in the military doing arctic survival training and every Norweigan I met could talk great English.
Even as young as 5 they are already understanding the basics of the English language.

Crap TV though

Have you ever noticed that handwriting style is hereditary?

When my mother was cleaning out my grandmother’s things, she came across a letter that she thought was written by her brother, but when she looked at the date, she realized that it had been written by her father, who died 6 months before her brother was born.

My sister and I both have similar hand writing to my mother and grandmother, only sloppier.

The girl singing was the highlight. Not an unpleasant show at all. A nice diversion from the routine, in fact. Takk så mye for posting.

From comments on web site: “Inside is a smaller package that says open August 24,2112.”

They forgot to mention that nearby, where this package was found, was some ripped brown paper, some cut string. On the paper it says "Open August 24, 1912".

I’ve seen it in many circumstances. Mine is a wreck though, and doesn’t resemble either of my parents’.

That’s really too bad for a number of reasons. On a personal experience level, one of my kids had a horrific time writing when it was block letters, as soon as they got to script he could write fairly effortlessly. That was in the ‘90s.

LOL! I was thinking someone never got the sweater grandma sent them for Christmas, so I was in the right ball park.

Zacarias Moussaoui, the would-be 20th 9/11 hihjacker, spent quite a bit of time while awaiting trial writing pro se, motions, briefs, and memoranda. They were popular reading, and law clerks in the EDVA passed them around for their entertainment value.
