Several shot at Empire State Building, authorities say

New York (CNN) — As many as five people were shot Friday in front of the Empire State Building in New York, a spokesman for the New York Fire Department said.

Authorities converged on the building around 9 a.m. after reports of gunfire.

Additional details were not immediately available.

“God told me to” is the name of a relatively obscure Larry Cohen movie about a rash of people being inspired to random mass murder (I won’t spoiler it, but it’s not God that’s doing the inspiring).

There was also Karloff’s last US movie, an early Bogdonavich film “Targets” about a mass-murdering sniper.

These were obviously dark movies - I can’t help but wonder if the dystopians were right about society (q.v., Clockwork Orange, Fahrenheit 451, 1984). Dark times, indeed.
