Fox News Outs The Navy SEAL Who Wrote An Anonymous Book On The Bin Laden Raid
Business Insider ^ | 8/23/12 | Geoffrey Ingersoll

Posted on 08/23/2012 11:53:02 AM PDT by Jean S

Turns out there are leaks everywhere, even among Navy SEALs.

Fox News obtained and released the identity of the author of the controversial new book "No Easy Day: The Firsthand Account of the Mission That Killed Osama Bin Laden,"  due to come out on the anniversary of 9/11.

"Mark Owen," the pseudonym under which the book was written, is actually 35 year-old Matt Bissonnette of Wrangell, Alaska. Bissonnette held the rank of chief in the elite Navy SEAL Team 6 prior to retiring. He was one of the first men in the room where bin Laden died, witnessing the occurrence first-hand.

We tracked down pictures of Bissonnett on  PatriotFiles.com and Flickr.

Bissonnette was also part of the operation which ended with the killing of three Somali pirates in order to save the life of Captain Richard Phillips in the Indian Ocean in 2009.

He co-wrote the book with author  Kevin Maurer, a well-versed author of four books, most based on military special operations.

Good points both.

I am more concerned about our own government retaliating than I am about foreign terrorists. That is truly a sad thing to admit.

“Fox’s licenses should be revoked.”

I can’t tell you how pleased that would make me.... but I would be very happy if some other multibillionaire would start a real conservative news service and use it to crush Faux.

Hey, I had the first thread on this and made a point not to say it...
Others weren’t so careful.
But, as they say, it’s out there...thanx Fox.

I share that view. There’s absolutely no excuse for this.

It could easily jeopardize a man’s whole family.

How do you live with yourself if something happens to him?

If something does, I hope someone publishes the editor’s home address that made this call.

How do these idiots in the press think we’ll get people to enter this line of endeavor, if they’re going to betray them constantly?

When I pre-ordered it on Amazon at lunch time, it was at #4. It is now at #2 in all books.

Some psychology handbook is #1.

It never ceases to amaze me, how so many freepers continue to believe that fox news is that much better than the rest of the MSN. They are seriously overrated.

I first heard about this on Brian William’s evening news broadcast. Who knows what kind of liberal spin was on it...probably a lot.

I'm not saying anyone is bulletproof but such guys will shoot an opponent before said opponent even begins to think about firing. They are aware of sniper positions on an almost instinctual level. Some never really sleep. They are not supernatural but super acute, fast, strong and smart. They are the most deadly non-WMD weapons system on Earth when properly equipped.

His name would have been revealed nomatter what if he wanted to give the story real credibility. Perhaps the team got together and decided the member with the least family to worry about should speak out and set the story straight.

We won't know why he took such a monumental risk until the book is released. But if he is who he says he is, I would trust his judgment.

Also, if this is for real I wouldn't be surprised if the book is suppressed and the entire team is somehow quieted.

While I agree the safety and security of our special forces is of utmost important, how is what this author did more dangerous than the SEALS that starred in Acts of Valor?
