Now is the time for courage (Akin, abortion)
WND ^ | August 22, 2012 | Janet Porter

Exclusive: Janet Porter joins pro-life leaders as they stand with Rep. Todd Akin

Want to know why the Republican Party is in such trouble? I believe it comes down to one word: courage.

When Democrats misspeak, we make them vice president. When Republicans misspeak, Republicans are the first in line to throw them under the bus.

When Rep. Todd Akin stood for protecting all innocent human life in a recent interview, he used a word with more than one meaning. He used the word “legitimate” before the word “rape” to mean “real,” “forcible,” a tragic event that “really took place.” Anyone who doesn’t think false claims of rape can be made should check with Norma McCorvey, the “Roe” of Roe v. Wade. The infamous abortion case, based on her false rape claim, has resulted in the deaths of 55 million innocent human lives.

But because “legitimate” could also modify the word rape, some in the Republican Party are practically writing Willie Horton ads about it, pretending that the congressman is “pro-rape” and wants to let rapists out on furlough. This “interpretation” of the congressman’s words doesn’t resemble reality, and everyone knows it.

If Republicans love their country, they will quit using fiction to shoot their own and focus on the real enemies of life: Democrats Claire McCaskill and Barack Obama, who stand for legally sucking the brains out of half-born babies in a procedure called partial-birth abortion.

In America, we shouldn’t kill people for the crimes of their father. And in politics, we shouldn’t kill statesmen for a badly worded sound bite.

Thankfully, there are men and women of courage who stand with Rep. Akin, beginning with the founder of National and International Right to Life, Dr. Jack Willke, who said:

“Congressman Todd Akin remains a strong and courageous

Attacking who, and with what ammunition?

? Attack democrats. On you name it. Just f'n attack.

If you want to talk about abortion how about calling attention to Obama's extreme record on the partial birth kind?

What possible good can be done by continually and loudly calling for Akin's dropping out? Do you think the media/democrats/indepentant voters will be impressed?

All you are doing is picking at a scab. and making the party look indecisive and inept.

No wonder the party's in such tough shape.

No, you explain to me how abandonment of the conservative Akin will result in defeat of the Marxist psycho McCaskill.

To make matters worse is the number of FReepers who think abortion is fine if it means winning.

Spirited: Power at any cost? They’re bargaining with the Father of Death and there will be a reckoning.

“? Attack democrats. On you name it. Just f’n attack.”

Akin press conference:

Mr Akin, can you, just for the record, clarify your views on RAPE?

Akin: I think we have covered this enough and I have clarified my views.

Mr Akin, I realize you have stated differing statements on RAPE, but for our audience can you once more clarify what you meant by LEGITAMATE RAPE?

Akin: Do you realize that Obama is in support of late term abortions and Senator McCaskill supports Obama?

Mr Akin, do you feel you have alienated women with your remarks about LEGITAMATE RAPE?

Repeat as many times as you want from now to Nov and this is what is in store for Akin and all Reps across the nation.

>Boehner has already made a joke of your ‘facts’.

Yes, he is a whining crybaby but would you prefer peloser in there?
Just think of the damage being done if the san fran witch was running the show.

Sometimes it all about damage control as in getting akin out.

BTW, while you surrender monkeys were pounding your puds over a nonsensical, irrelevant issue, . . .

Holder's DOJ filed suit against Rasmussen with clear intent to get them to favor ‘Bam in their polling reports, and a Marine named Raub was illegally imprisoned in a mental facility for Facebook posts critical of Hussein.

But hey, get all serious and worked up over whatever "legitimate rape" means.

He [Akin] made an ignorant and ill-considered remark that destroyed his ability to get votes outside his base, thereby shooting his campaign not in the foot but through the head - and no amount of defense or support will change that.

Going on the attack would.

Attacking who, and with what ammunition?

? Attack democrats. On you name it. Just f'n attack.

If you want to talk about abortion how about calling attention to Obama's extreme record on the partial birth kind?

Akin should attack Obama, or random Democrats? And this will revive his ability to get votes outside his base?

What possible good can be done by continually and loudly calling for Akin's dropping out?

His dropping out is the first step toward putting up a pro-life conservative who has a chance. Akin is a dead man walking.

“Akin is not being true to himself, his family, his supposed beliefs or to the people of this country. And he is certainly not being true to the legions of the yet unborn.”

“I hope that Akin recovers from the stupidity with which he is currently afflicted. I hope that he recovers in time to allow a conservative replacement to be elected to the Senate this November. And, to a lesser degree, I hope that his misguided followers recover from their denial and the resulting stupidity which is enveloping them and preventing them from seeing and understanding realities.”

Well said, very well said!

How do you think the voting public will react after three solid months of such ludicrous obfuscation? Is there really so little else going on that they'll remain focused on this sideshow?

I'm inclined to give them more credit for intelligence. If they are that stupid then none of this matters anyway.

Go cower in a corner.

OK, hero, explain how our defense and support will revive Akin's chances with the swing voters.

No, you explain to me

Cowering away from your charge of "cowering," I see.

how abandonment of the conservative Akin will result in defeat of the Marxist psycho McCaskill.

Akin has destroyed his ability to get votes outside his base; he's the last person who can defeat the Marxist psycho McCaskill. Hee needs to be replaced, the sooner the better.

Paul Ryan isn’t going to get the nomination for GOP presidential candidate though, is he?

Paul Ryan didn’t run for president did he?

Paul Ryan didn’t appear in any of the GOP debates did he?

There is exactly one person on this earth who has any chance whatsoever of defeating Obama in 2012, and his name is Mitt Romney.

You live in fantasy land. I am not a hack, and I don’t particularly like or support Mitt Romney, but I am going to do what needs to be done to defeat Obama the communist, because I am not an IDIOT.

And if he does lose, it’s because people like you chose to martyr themselves on the Hill of Principle where people whose principles no longer matter at all because they died.

Stop being a fool.

a nonsensical, irrelevant issue

Said the FReeper who's made at least 11 previous posts in this thread, and dozens more in other Akin threads. Funny how issues become trivial to those losing the debate.

“Akin will be on the November ballot. It is either him or McCaskill. Whom will you support?”

I will vote for Akin, along with the other 38% of the electorate who represent the core Rep voting block in this state and we will watch McCaskill wn another 6 year term.

If I was a Missouran, and if Akin was still on the ballot, he'd get my vote - and every other vote from the conservative base, and scarcely a single vote more - and McCaskill would win.

For one thing, Romney is leading, and hasn’t torpedoed his campaign by making some idiotic statement about women being able to shut down any conception during “legitimate rape”.
