A map created by Amazon tracking the bestselling political books in the US state by state shows that conservative titles are outselling liberal books virtually everywhere suggesting that if Americans' voting choices are linked to their book-buying habits, the Democrats are in for a tough ride this November.
Amazon.com's election heat map, which is updated daily, lays out readers' book preferences in every state, colouring a state blue or red depending on if it has higher liberal or conservative book sales. At present, across the whole country, 56% of purchases are "red" books titles such as Obama's America: Unmaking the American Dream, Fool Me Twice: Obama's Shocking Plans for the Next Four Years Exposed and Republican VP candidate Paul Ryan favourite Ayn Rand's Atlas Shrugged. Just 44% are "blue" books, titles which include Howard Zinn's A People's History of the United States and The Price of Inequality: How Today's Divided Society Endangers Our Future.
Only six states are selling more liberal books bought than conservative titles: Vermont, Massachusetts, Rhode Island, Maryland, New York and DC.

Overlooking something here.
Most liberals can’t or won’t read.
Except for the so-called intelligentsia, conservatives on the whole read more than liberals. The liberal base of dependents doesn’t read (or listen to liberal talk radio).
Nope, that’s not it...
most liberals won’t spend their OWN MONEY on books.
If they were subsidized, they’d “buy” them.
Bingo! They sure can mouth off online though...lol. You ought to read some of their pathetic comments at the source link.
Liberals watch TV and “feel” things. Conservatives read books. Now I’m sure that if Amazon did a sex toy vote (yes, they sell those too), the Libs would win in landslide.
Not surprising as the Guardian is a little further to the left of the New York Slimes, and many of its readers get nostalgic thinking about the Soviet Union.
This is impossible. Studies keep coming out saying conservatives are stooopid.
“if Amazon did a sex toy vote “
ah....THAT would explain the bad breath!
(one of my favorite taunts used to be to call someone “dd breath)(you figure it out)
I don’t know what to make of this. Out here on the Left Coast, when I walk into a book store, it looks like I’ve gone back 40 years to the days of Flower Power and fingers in gun barrels.
Okay it’s not that bad, but I get a decidedly Leftist vibe none the less.
I’m sure the leftist vibe is not just your imagination. Even where I live, in relatively conservative Fort Worth Texas, when I walk into Half Price Books, I feel like I’m surrounded by hippy-like pod people. I think they can sense that I’m different from them....I almost expect Donald Sutherland to appear, mouth wide open, screaming at me to denounce me to the others...
Republicans read. Democrats simply emote.
This is impossible. Studies keep coming out saying conservatives are stooopid.
Yeah, I noticed about 6-10 months ago it was one, after the other, after the other. Then they suddenly stopped.
I’ve noticed that comments on newspapers and online articles have conservatives fighting back a lot more the last 2 or 3 months.
The local newspaper here in Colorado Springs used to be 90% if not 100% lib idiots. Now 40 or 50% of the posters are conservative.
Of course I thought before 0 was even sworn it, that he be hard pressed to beat Carters performance when going for re-election.
They need to come up with one of those Steyn shirts that mocks the Che T-Shirts.
That’s funny. I know what you mean.
Funny, I was talking about conservative books with the wife last night. How it seems I can never keep up, as every boy and their dog in the conservative community is putting out a book these days. I will likely never catch up on my reading list.
And I’m pleased to have our book, “A Patriot’s History of the United States” in the top 40.
Congratulations Larry, and much continued success!
