Romney Calls for Akin to Quit
National Review

Posted on 08/21/2012 1:17:12 PM PDT by mrs9x

"As I said yesterday, Todd Akin’s comments were offensive and wrong and he should very seriously consider what course would be in the best interest of our country. Today, his fellow Missourians urged him to step aside, and I think he should accept their counsel and exit the Senate race."

thats right . wining the senate , removing RvW, removing Obamacare etc is less important than purity of having a candidate that believes in magical defense against rape induced conception.

Thank goodness I am no longer in the GOP. If and when the GOP actually defends conservative principles I might rethink my position. I’ll check back in 4 years.

It’s called freedom of speech.

When did you become an enforcer for the PC ARMY?

I am calling for Akin to stay in race and win Missouri. All this man was referring to is the misuse of a single word....legitimate....This is made as a distinction from a pregnancy from consensual sexual relations but was claimed to be the result of rape.....ie Roe vs. Wade. The words he used were poorly chosen, but now the Establishment republicans are going after him like a pack of hyenas. Stay in Akin,...and win the state.

GOPe declares war on social conservatives. We (GOPe) will accept nothing but unconditional surrender.

People are free to make stupid statements.
scientifically unsound statements are neither politically correct nor politically incorrect. they are just plain stupid.
The last thing we need now is toxic stupidity.

Presuming Akins does not bow out in the next 6 minutes, I’m all GUNG-HO for him. He has not raped anyone (but, if he was a ‘rat president that would be AOK) and he has not drowned anyone (but, if he was a ‘rat sinator that would be AOK). He has not said anything REALLY stupid like “macaca” or “niggardly”, so now that the deadline is behind us, we need to change focus on ISSUES and get on with the campaign... get conservatives to VICTORY, push RINOs to election as well - and deal with them later.

Considering Mitt's many positions on abortion and other social issues that conservatives are yet to trust him on, he'd best leave this situation up to Aiken, MO voters & the MO GOP!

Speaking of the latter, had best select the next highest vote getter, John Brunner, not some hand-picked "establishment woman" as it appears the knee-jerk RINOs are trying to do!

Akin just made the mistake of not using the acceptable language. He should have said women are less likely to become pregnant in cases of “rape rape”. Like Whoopee said there’s rape and then there’s rape rape. Just a matter of navigating modern morality. For example I’m thinking Bill Clinton is probably just a rapist and not a rape rapist because he’s still beloved by many including George H. Bush. I’m afraid there’s too many nuances to progressive morality for Republicans to ever make it through the minefield. Mitt better stay on prompter till November and have some progressive proof read his words.

I used to know a Todd. He would go bonkers if anyone called him ‘Toddie’ (he was an ass mgr, and I encouraged Indian newbies to do that.) Try that on Akin.

What are the duties of an ass mgr?

Sorry, I thought this thread needed some inappropriate (so-called) humor.

Akin’s voters should get to decide that, not PC enforcers like you.

You’re doing Obama’s work for him.

“Let Akin run for President. I bet even with your support he might win 50 electoral votes.”

Well at least Akin is a TRUE conservative, while Romney is just a cultic poser.

What choice do we have? He steps out it hands the seat to a Democrat. Maybe he could stay in and if he wins let the Governor select his replacement? Is the Governor a Republican? I just he needs to keep apologizing for a stupid comment—maybe he needs a Conversion Moment of some sort—to get—re-educated!!!

no you are doing Obama’s work. there is a reason McCaskill wanted this clown because he was the only one she could beat. There are not enough idiots out there for Akin to achieve a majority.
As to politically coorect enforcer, I realize that there may be people with sixth grade level education that believe “ the body has a way to stop pregnancy after rape” but this is just pure ignorance. It is not being a politically correct enforcer to point out a scientific fact to you.

The true conservatives in the party are Palin, Bachmann and Santorum

None of them are speaking in favor of Akin. Not even Bachmann has and she endorsed him two months ago. Palin endorsed his opponent, Sarah Steelman, so we can assume she felt he wasn't up to the job.

The "poor guy" deserves everything coming his way. He's harmed the prolife movement, he's harmed conservatism, he's harmed his voters, he's harmed his endorsers, he's harmed the election and harmed this nation.

I heard him on Hannity today. Akin's stayed in for his ego and nothing else. He admitted "thousands" could take his place, advance his causes and defeat McCaskill.

"Pride goeth before destruction, and a haughty spirit before a fall," Mr. Akin.

“a moronic conservative who hurts the cause.”

Now you are going to try and tell me that the Magic Mormon Faux Conservative is somehow going to help the cause. That is a “moronic” statement.

Worry about the candidates in your own state. Besides, Akin fairly won the election. He ran NO negative ads, he didn’t buy the election like Romney...and he didn’t have the “Establishment’s” backing. I would say he is a truer conservative and I would put up with some gaffs with him (knowing he HAS character) than all the slick used car salesman bull of Myth the Magic Mormon.
