There are a bunch of Akin bashers on Free Republic and I think they are all libs who have never seen an abortion they don't like. Akin got his words out wrong

It matters little what we say here, Akin is toast and you should know it. He may indeed be the finest man for the job, but he will very likely not get that job, and he is running against a candidate that suffers many more self inflicted wounds than he has. Just the way it is. Women voters matter.

You’re talking to people in a state who have in the past elected a dead guy for governor.

Actually Mel Carnahan was the Governor when he became deceased. He was thereafter elected to the U.S. Senate, being the best qualified for the office, obviously.

He was dead before election day.... best qualified, you bet....

I'm offended by offended people.

I'm even more offended when "my party" thinks that appeasing offended people over a stupid remark is of greater importance than growing a set and denying victory to the enemies of life and liberty.

As a woman I am really annoyed that conservatives are so easily pusswhipped.

While you’re being offended, please try and explain why you would defend a guy that can’t even defend himself, a guy who went on Hannity’s show and basically crapped the bed, sounding like a total airhead, and definitely not Senatorial material.

What he said was undeniably stupid, his explanations for it have been even worse. Its over, done, he needs to go, and soon.

He needs to go. At this point he is hurting the party. Amazing to me that a politician could be stupid enough to use a phrase like that.

[ Eric Erickson from Red State is tweeting is hearing this: Breaking: Senior GOP official: Akin advisors making preparations for a withdrawal tomorrow. ]

I sure hope this is true. He seemed pretty adamant on Hannity that he was staying in.

His statement is TRUE!!!!!

I read about this years ago in Francis Shaeffer’s book HOW SHOULD WE THEN LIVE? - The Rise and Decline of Western Thought and Culture.

As I recall, it quotes medical studies done on women who were raped in Nazi prison camps. The human body rejects impregnation in most cases. He’s being pilloried, for telling the truth and someone needs to come to his defense!

I hope there is someone to run instead of this person. We need every senate seat we can garner come November!

He’s a moron...but surely MO has someone else that can help take back America.

Sorry? He threw himself under that bus with the moronic statement he made. All the apologies in the world won’t shut the liberal media up...and if he didn’t believe what he said, it wouldn’t have come spewing out so quickly.

Just sayin’.....

To put it bluntly, it’s time we learn from 2010’s few losses.

People like this DO NOT LEARN FROM THEIR MISTAKES.

He will repeat gaffes in the future, possibly EVEN WORSE. It’s time to Freep the heck out of anybody who can make him change his mind.

Workplace number of state GOP chairman (lawyer): 417-847-2734

Contact Akin and the Missouri GOP on Facebook. They can pressure him to quit:

“GOOD!”

Nothing good about any of this. Either way the GOP will be running like headless chickens in an attempt to find an electable replacement on time.

“Whatever happens with this guy, this is a story of 4 days, and then we are on to something else. There isn’t going to be some ungodly swell of support for Democrats, superceding all of the other issues.”

Nationally, yes. But it could still impact chances for the MO Senate seat.

Yeah, let’s now bring up the Nazi death camps. You sure have no clue about politics.

I was probably reading books before your momma walked you into grade school, my friend. And I resent your snide comment. But then I see you’re in NY so that explains everything.

“Huckabee needs to stick to TV, and let Sarah pick the candidates.”

Totally off-the-wall thought:
Why not ask Palin if she would move to MO and take up the seat?

I’ll take the tin foil hat off now.

“If your main goal is party unity, then the replacement should be neither Brunner nor Steelman. But I think that if Steelman or Brunner is selected, the other candidate can be an adult, accept it and quickly endorse the replacement. Both Brunner and Steelman have a future in the MO GOP, and it would be stupid of them to be remembered as the sour-grapes ex-candidate who helped McCaskill get reelected.”

Seems to me that both Brunner and Steelman got roughly comparable shares of the vote in the primary.

I think the best course of action would be to hold an “emergency caucus” of the state party leadership, and invite both Brunner and Steelman to each make the case for their candidacies before the gathering. Then, hold a secret ballot to choose the winner. Of course, both would have to agree beforehand to abide by the results and to support the outcome.

To pick one of the older “has-been” Pubbie senators instead is a joke, and I doubt any of them would win.

WHO will be the NEXT conservative you throw under the bus to appease the media??????????
_________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________

Let me answer that for you. The next “conservative” to be thrown under the bus will be the one who only gets 36% of the vote in the Primary, wins the nomination by a plurality; and is as big a dumb ass buffoon as Todd Akin. Any more questions?

If you wouldn’t make statements like that people wouldn’t know just how ignorant you really are. I bet you embarrass your family a lot don’t you? That is the most dumb ass statement I’ve ever read on here.

I think picking the older ones (Bond,Talent,Danforth) is a mistake. Brunner or Steelman as per your rules. Establishment might not like it but it needs to be that way. Someone younger to go along with Ryan and his comments (my generation). Yes, Brunner and Steelman not on the inside with GOP-e, but they need to do the compromising this time since it was a good primary with 3 good candidates. Just surmising but might they put Steelman against Claire to try to put the rape thing to rest???? Comments Missouri Freepers.
