Hey mylife! I’ve missed having Gun Talk Radio the last coupla Sundays. I was going to post some new gun porn last night!
I purchased an FNAR .308 recently.
I somewhat reluctantly put a Burris site with the built-in laser range finder and inclinometer in it, on the recomendation of the dealer.
Sighted in in, cleaned it, and then lost it somewhere around our mountain cabin. Shame, as I bought 3,000 rounds.
Sorry about that.
Life has just gotten in the way of keeping up the thread the past two weeks.
LOL! Understood. It get a little crazy sometimes. I’ll keep an eye out for the next time you host it, and give a range report on my latest find.
What did you get?
I can't buy one. I live in Massachusetts. Thank you Mitt Romney.
Forget the AK47.
Get a Garand.
Was looking at the gun show for a CZ75, which I couldn’t find, but managed a nice CZ82.
LOL at “paranoid.” The media never fails to find some not-so-subtle way to knock gun ownership for whatever reason.
I suppose I should ... maybe ...
My DCM rifle is rusting away at the bottom of a lake somewhere in ....
FWIW, 7.62x39 FMJ is a lot easier to obtain than M2 Ball.
The CZ82 us still the best darn value on the market IMHO.

Go forth to thy gun store & sin no more. And while your at it don’t forget the spam can of ammunition.
You shouldn't be surprised by this. By it's specs, it's a reduced load from that of a "battle rifle," like the .308 (7.62x51mm, or in the case of the Russian battle rifle, 7.62x54mm)
Mark
This is not exactly true about accuracy and the range is limited as compared to main battle rifle calibers like 7.62x51 NATO, .30-06 Springfield, .303 British, 7.92x57 Mauser, or 7.62x54R Moisin-Nagant.
That said, the most likely scenario for most shooters is to engage at ranges well below 500 yards, with 100 to 300 yards being optimal. The biggest curse for the AK-type rifle is its primitive sights. If your rifle has the “universal” rail on the left side above the trigger guard, you can put a whole laundry list of optics on the rifle that can be removed and installed at will without changing zero.
I have three Romanian AKM clones: (1) SAR-1 in 7.62x39, (2) SAR-2 in 5.45x39, and SAR-3 in 5.56x45 NATO. All have rails and different optics. The SAR-2 has an ATN Ultra reflex sight that allows me to get head shot double taps on a steel silhouette at 100 yards. Not bad for an AKM. The AK’s stable mate, the SKS, is no slouch in the accuracy department either.
If you can find an aftermarket gastube, you can file it to fit and probably tighten up those(for want of a better word)groups.
