Vice President Joe Biden is going home to Delaware.
The updated White House calendar for Aug. 27 reports that “in the morning, the Vice President will meet with senior advisers. Later, the Vice President will be in Wilmington, Delaware.”
“There are no public events scheduled,” said the 5:36 p.m. White House announcement, titled “Daily Guidance for the Vice President.”
Biden’s retreat home during the increasingly frenetic 2012 race comes amid increased criticism for his campaign-trail performance.
Biden was slated to share an uncomfortable lunch with President Barack Obama on Thursday, following his disastrous week on the campaign trail, which culminated with a racially inflammatory warning to African-American supporters that Mitt Romney will “put y’all back in chains.”
The flubs revived chatter about whether the president will drop Biden, and seek a substitute vice president to win the tough 2012 race.
Obama’s spokesman Jay Carney on Thursday provided a tepid defense of Biden when he was asked if the vice president would remain on the ticket.
“Yes and that was settled a long long time ago,” Carney said, before quickly changing the subject to Medicare.
Despite the vice president’s apparent benching, his wife Jill Biden is going back out on the campaign trail.
However, she’s only going down the road from their house in Wilmington.
On Friday, “Biden will visit the Guardian Angel Child Care in Wilmington for a reading of her book Don’t Forget, God Bless Our Troops,” according to a White House statement.
Biden’s campaign trail flubs also included two errors that prompted derision from GOP supporters and from the media.
Biden also managed to irritate the Washington Post’s editorialists, who complained about Biden’s response to a question about the Social Security program, which is heading rapidly toward bankruptcy.
“I guarantee you, flat guarantee you, there will be no changes in Social Security. … I flat guarantee you,” he said.
Biden’s chain claim was especially damaging because it helps Romney persuade swing-voters that the Obama campaign is divisive and hateful, in contrast to Obama’s 2008 “hope and change” message.
“Mr. President, take your campaign of division and anger and hate back to Chicago,” Romney said during a Wednesday speech in Ohio.
The Obama campaign “is one of the most hateful, divisive operations that we have ever seen in this country,” Republican National Committee Chairman Reince Priebus said on the Tuesday episode of “Hannity” on Fox News Channel.

Is Joe Biden setting up health (or insanity) defense to renomination?

While Obama is standing by Biden, the rumor mill has been working for months about Obama ditching Biden for Hillary, and it is growing. Anne wrote about Hillary’s “brand renovation” in June, asking “where is she heading?”
Some even are saying Sarah Palin’s recommendation that Obama swap out his VP was a move to cut off that line of retreat.
Obama Press Secretary Jay Carney says the President’s lunch with Biden and Hillary is “routine.” They officially have until September 6, when the nominating process occurs at the Democratic National Convention, to make the decision.
Just this week, Biden opened a speech referencing his prior aneurysms.
One has to wonder, if it’s either the history of aneurysms or the equivalent of an insanity plea, is Biden setting up a health defense to renomination — bowing out for the good of the party while not admitting he knowingly did anything wrong.
I think it is highly unlikely, but is Biden dropping out something we should not wish for too hard because we may get it?
I think so. I say let Joe be Joe.
What would the ramifications of a switch to Hillary be for the Romney Ryan ticket?
Would they even consider anyone else? What if Barry chooses not to win an election, but to get a command team in place for other options?
Romney should offer to pay Biden's travel expenses in exchange for keeping him on the ticket.
Biden should be replaced for the good of our Country. If something happens to Obama between now and January 20, 2013, Biden would be clueless as POTUS.

The press needs to start asking Bill Clinton if his wife would be a stronger running mate for the RAT ticket than Joe Biden. Bubba is going public by speaking at the convention so he should be hounded about this. I would love to see him defending Biden over Hillary.

I believe this would be catastrophic for the RR ticket. The race is razor close as it us, unbelievably given the circumstances. Hillary on the ticket would put Obama over the top, particularly with independent Gen-X voters, many of whom recall with fondness the prosperity of the Clinton years during their youth.

My thoughts: MUCH more biting, snarking lies and vicious attacks, but spoken coherently. The hateful venom can flow through her lips like oil through a funnel, so the R&R’s would have to civilly factually respond without sinking to her sewer depths and getting emotionally reactive.
Can’t you just imagine her stinking, shrieking, ear splitting vocal crescendoes again, making folks recoil and run for the hills ?

It’s undeniable ..they’ve GOT to be desperate, and may have no other choice.
This period and the lame duck time after his, God willing, loss are VERY DANGEROUS TIMES. Our prayers should increase .. unceasingly.. NOW.
There’s no end to O’s bitterness, retribution and unmitigated will and power to use them against his enemies. The American people are definitely on his enemies/revenge list. Lord, have mercy ..
