NORTH COLLEGE HILL, Ohio -- Police say that six 13- and 14-year-old boys charged with robbing and badly beating a man told officers they were bored.

The Cincinnati Enquirer reports that 45-year-old Pat Mahaney is back home after being hospitalized for four days with internal injuries and bleeding, cuts and bruises. Police in the northern Cincinnati suburb of North College Hill say he was found covered in blood last Saturday evening.

What evidence do you have that any of these youths even HAD a game system - let alone war games focused on killing and mayhem?

They were apparently hanging out outside bored - not at home ‘killing electrons’.

Not to say that Cleveland isn't travelling down the same path, but this particular incident occured in Cincinnati - it's just reported in a Cleveland paper.

There are multitudes of youth watching movies, etc, that long ago make inter net games very desirable especially for boys. I have no proof. But I’d take a bet that is the truth.

I would bet that the common thread the majority (or all) of these youths shared was LACK OF A FATHER IN THE HOME.

Having a game system or watching violent movies is a poor predictor of criminality - however not having a father is a very good predictor.

Maybe...... movies and video games are to blame for THAT! Yeah - that’s the ticket! /s
